Mine was on a placard that is attached to the dash so it can be read while standing outside the MH by the drivers side mirror. It is approx 1 3/4 by 3 inches and looks like it was made on a type writer.

On the '87 345 there is a vertical support about 1/3 of the way to the curbside of center in the front engine access area (just above the oil dipstick).
On mine, both the GM vin number AND the Airstream Serial number are attached to this support. The GM number is on a black thin piece of steel, and the Airstream serial number is on what appears to be aluminum, about 1 1/2" X 4".

Found the Id plates thanks Dennis, My A/S # is
1A9BGAU37FJ0465 check it out how mine and Dennis 1987 have the same first 8 digit. Minne is 1985 345 rear double bed,on a 1984 Chevy p30.I agree I dont think it will do harm to show this Id # since the chevy vin # is the one used for registration.
im told 1996 was the last year. ??? who knoiws for sure???
Per NADA, 1996 was the last year of the 'Classic' MH. It was actually called the 'Classic'. I just don't have a picture of one on my site.
The 36' Classic MH's were built from 1993 to 1996 with 1994-1995 models having a Diesel/Spartan chassis model available. 1993 and 1996 were gas only years for the 36' Classic.
the vin number was stamped on a piece of black metal and located in the middle of the engine access area but attached to the right upright was an aluminum plate with the airstream # on it.

Some of the numbers posted are the Chevrolet VIN# portion and not the Airstream number.
You should be able to find both, but the chassis vin # is irrelevant to this listing.
My chassis nmo. is on the plate under the hood as mentioned above, and in the bedroom closet on a sticker...the Airstream # is listed, as well as on the aluminum plate on the upright under the hood.
