79 Excella MH, 001

Anyone know what the rest of the Serial numbers mean?
I assume the M is for Motorhome, 24 for length, ?R9V5, Has rear bath, left kitchen, couch on left in front, couch on right across from Kitchen and a swivel chair and desk in rt. front.

I have a 1987 345 Air Stream. I would like to add my AS to the list of serial numbers.
3335398 I will go look for another number later today and post the. Is there someone out there that can give me info on PO's of my vehicle? Also does anyone have a complete list that I could have?

In the paper work I got with my MOHO I found the window sticker for a 1988 345. It was delivered to Woodland Travel Center, Inc. The total cost was listed as $115,664.48. Looking it over I find that I have the same things on my MOHO. The serial number is 1AGAU30JJ010991 If you own this MOHO I'll be glad to send you a copy of the window sticker.

This MH when stripped down revealed the no. 58 painted on the chassis rail behind the waste tanks, only visible once the tanks were removed. I don't know what system AS used to number their early models, maybe this could be the 58th 24 footer, 100th of all models built (20 + 24 footers) ??

Kinda hard to say what the 58 might have designated. Our 1974 20' Argosy is M20D4V0159. I believe as some other people on the forums do that the Motorhomes are not serialized in sequential order. I think Airstream mixed the serial number in with trailers. The odds of finding two motorhomes with sequential numbers is probably pretty slim. I'm guessing yours is the 100th of all models (trailers & motorhomes) built in 1974 and ours is the 159th of all models (trailers & motorhomes) built in 1974.

Of course I'm just guessing so.....................

I was out tinkering today and finally got the whole AS number. Somebody had mounted the radiator overflow tank covering the bottom digits.

AS 1A9TDAM22CJ009868

VIN 1GBKP37W2C3307807

The unit is a 28' Excella, rear bath, twin bed, couch/bed to the left with dinette to the right and Isuzu turbo diesel. It is registered as a 1982.

AS Serial # for 1982 280 Turbo Diesel

is...
1A9DDAM28CJ009779

So, based on the previous hundred posts or so, what does that mean?

Was it the 79th made that year? It does say its production date was in November 1982, and Chaplain Kent says there were 150 made, so maybe it means something else.

Also, I have found it says Limited Edition or LE on the side. What does that mean?

Thanks,
Audrey

I always thought that LE stood for Luxury Edition, as our 345 LE seems to have all the bells and whistles(tho' some have quit ringing, and some have quit whistling)...

LE= Limited Edition

Hi: Ours has a thingy on the driver's side under the window that says Limited Edition. I don't know if it was an add-on or original but it's pretty old looking. I'm also not sure what Limited Edition means. I don't find any mention of it in the manuals or brochures either.

I can't speak for other years, but the 1989 370LE that I used to own was tricked out with all the bells and whistles that were not on standard units. Of course the 370LE came ONLY as an LE, but I'm sure the principle is the same. It had a type of carpeting on the walls and ceilings, as opposed to vinyl covered aluminum, a very large thermostatically controlled vent fan that blew in or out, brass plated bath fixtures, Corian counters, etc., etc. It was sold as a limited edition unit (in fact so limited that something like 15 were all that were ever built, but I think demand had more to do with that). At any rate, I'm certain that if a unit has LE attached to the number it had lots of extras that were not on standard units. That is not to say a standard unit couldn't be equipped with some of the LE features, of course. Sort of like cars and trucks being sold with different levels of equipment, and then with a "package" like the LE.

Best,

(p.s. I have for sale a 1989 Avion 34X travel trailer in absolutely top condition. Contact me if you are seriously interested. $16,900 obo. )

1982 date is really 1981

I said above ours was produced in November 1982 but really meant 1981 for model year 1982.
