The drivers side shroud with the hole for the master cylinder and cut up at the front for access to the alternator is still there and in pretty good shape, however the rear part and passenger side were 1/4" rubber that over time split and fell apart.

I thought about making new shrouds out a sheet of aluminum that had from my old shop but it would have taken way too much time and machines, like a brake, that I do not possess. It only took me an hour or two to cut out and install these.

Cheers
Tony

Tony, I wonder if the rubber shrouds were installed on the diesel models due to the differences between the gas engine and the diesel.

Rubber would certainly be easier to fabricate and install that the sheet metal pieces.

We would have to enquire with Mike, Dan or Swillv8 to understand the difference. I seem to recall though that the shrouding was much more important with the gassers to aid airflow by the headers, manifold and sparkplug wires. If too much air escaped into the wheel well it caused hot start problems.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f311...et-169058.html

I just added it to keep out moisture from the front wheels and increase airflow around the engine.

Cheers

I have a sheet metal panel on the drivers side. I cut it into two pieces to be able to access the master cylinder without taking the whole thing out. It covers the entire side and across the front behind the headlight and air cleaner. The passenger side has nothing but a small panel over the Racor. As mentioned above all the heat is on the drivers side, exhaust manifold and turbo. Air flow is not a problem like the gassers.

I don't have any sign of shrouds in my wheel wells. Doesn't look like there ever were any. Everything is petty much exposed except for a small metal shroud covering the Rakor fuel filter

It's interesting that there's no real consistency among the diesel rigs. Not that I'm surprised by that

Here is the profile I cut into the 3/4 Coosa. I would also mention that I did sand a bit of a curve into the bottom edge going into the channel.

As promised I'm introducing you all to the little raven haired Irish lass that John and I will be sharing; him in the winter and I in the summer. Both of us are pretty stoked as she has only 78,000 miles on her 1.0 litre 3 cylinder, TBI, 5 speed power train.

A new top is on order and I will hopefully pick that up at the meet next weekend, along with many other things. I already have a US Gear unified tow brake system for the car and my brother-in-laws brother is giving me his Roadmaster 5000 tow bar for free. The hard part will be mating the tow bar to the car, as Roadmaster base plates don't work for this model and the only base plate I can find is a Blue Ox #3506, which is discontinued. I figure a couple of zip ties will probably work but John is insisting on some metal to metal connection.

Believe it or not, the trailer weighed 250 lbs more than the car. The trailer, 2000 lbs; the car 1750 + half tank of fuel. As for how the Mistress handled almost 4000 lbs behind her......yes, I could feel it when braking as the trailer had surge brakes, so I could feel the coupling compress and the brakes come on. Other than that, she handled the weight very well and my upgraded hitch took the weight.

Also including a picture of our stay in Sauble Falls this summer. I had my KLR 705 on my trailer behind the Mistress and Gabby brought the Kat up. You can just see my bike trailer behind the Mistress. The trailer bed kneels down to the ground to allow me to load the bike easier.

Cheers
Tony

Hmmm......has John agreed to that split or is he thinking it will be just the opposite?!

I'm with John on this one.......I don't think there are enough zip ties available to do the job!

He is planning on wintering in sunny Arizona this winter, so yeah, he's good with that arrangement. I however have to work and would hate to drive the Mistress through salt and snow.

I'm with John on this one.......I don't think there are enough zip ties available to do the job!
Aww, come on; have you tried to bust a zip tie lately? Zippy (my wife named her) is only 1750lbs; she'll sit back there like an obedient little puppy. Plus I do have a break-away system..........still no?

Cheers

I won't tell you about the time I was trying to break a zip tie with a screw driver and shut down a plant....

That I get Tony!

I have to say I managed to totally confuse myself trying to find some other connection. But now I know more about GM M body platforms and G10 engines all of which totally confused me because they all had Suzuki badges in Europe..... I think!

Yup, it's all Suzuki, manufactured in Japan and imported for Gm back in the days when GM partially owned Suzuki; along with the Geo Tracker, Adina Sunrunner and a bunch more GM branded Suzuki's.
I love Suzuki products, having owned or still own a Chevy Tracker, XL-7, Metro. All great cheap cars.

With all that Suzuki experience, maybe you should consider building one of these.

It is one of the very few 'kit cars' in the UK that requires no structural changes to the host chassis so needs no special IVA test to get it on the road and uses the grille from a London Cab.

Neat concept Martin, but sticking a truck chassis with two solid axles under, what is purported to be a MG Midget body is blasphemous in my MG book (I've owned a Midget and my Dad a Mark C); not that a Midget ride is any better, but I'd miss the handling.

I really want one of these.....
