Good pictures of the typical Airstream build quality. Scary isn't it......

Maybe I'm using the wrong search term?
Some have replaced the plastic insert by fabricating a nice wood entry way. Dan (Smartstream) is one that comes to mind that made a beautiful wood replacement.

Looks superb. Every bit of it lines up, and looks slick. Nicely done!!

What is the floor material?

Thanks fellas. It is a rigid PVC click lock plank flooring in teak n holly by Nauticflor. I installed it about 1.5 to 2 yrs ago I think. We like it so far. It cleans very easy and really no maintenance. Pricey but considering there is so little sq ft to cover it wasn't that bad. It's pretty big in the marine/boating world because it is water proof.

It really has a yacht vibe to it. My dad was captain on a yacht that was all teak. This floor looks so realistic. Very nice job.

Wasn't Mike, it was Lynn who did the fine detailed touches; indexed the screws and applied blue Loctite with a very fine Japanese caligraphy brush.

Cheers

I clearly don't understand how the Kwikee steps controller works.
Went to move the MH out of the shop but could not get the steps to retract, with ANY combination of attempts.
Switch on, switch off. Engine on, shift to neutral, etc.
So I disconnected them from the motor and tied them up.
Then I backed her out and the motor started working again.
So what HAS to happen for the steps to work?
Any help appreciated!

Sorry if this is obvious, but you did have the door shut, right?

Yes I did.

From the Kwikee manual:

With the new IMGL and Control Unit logic:
WHEN THE OVERRIDE SWITCH IS ‘ON’,
THE STEP IS LOCKED IN THE EXTENDED POSITION.
IF THE IGNITION IS TURNED ‘ON’
(WHETHER THE
OVERRIDE SWITCH
IS ‘ON’ OR ‘OFF)
THE STEP WILL FOLLOW THE DOOR.
Door Open = Step Extended
Door Closed = Step Retracted

I swear on a stack of bibles I tried it with both ign on and engine started.
Bewildering.

OF COURSE I indexed the screws, just like every electrical cover plate in the house! (hell I can't remember).

Ok, now I feel better about my OCD-related issue on properly indexing screws, and making absolutely sure all the switches on a 3-way circuit line up in the same position when the light is off.

I thought it was just me!

What is current practice for proper indexing of screws these days?
Horizontal or vertical?

If you an Allen or Torx head it won't matter.
