I've got to have the air injection system AND an EFE, or "something" fuel evapration valve. I tried to see if I could get smog legal Thorleys but they won't have the EFE and therefore I need to get the regular exhaust manifolds with the valve already in it. So I'll be selling the Thorleys that are on it later on ebay, and now I have to get the engine put back into it's original form with all the smog equipment on it. There goes my mileage!
Since I'll be keeping her for up to 10 years more, I'm gonna bite the bullet and "Get 'er done! The junk yard had some old Suburban smog stuff...rusted, bent to heck, and generally not looking so good, so I'm getting new stuff. A hod rod company that also does family vehicles and wrecking will be doing the work. They are a "Gold" smog certified company in California. Would those ceramic manifolds be a good choice rather than the cast iron? If anyone's in California, it may be a good idea to keep everything stock but running well.
