PS Is there such a thing as a Canadian accent? I lost my British one, but I don't think I ever picked up a Canadian one.

Going in for surgery on my back Monday to implant a spinal cord stimulator. For 12 weeks post surgery I'm not supposed to lift my arms up over my head. We leave for the Gulf of Mexico on Jan 1st. Got everything done on the rig that I could think of, rotated tires, tightened the new alternator belts one more time yesterday. Just going to cross my fingers that we have a trouble free trip so I'm not forced to get underneath the rig to repair something on the road. Should be interesting. LYNN...LYNNN......now this is a socket..this is a socket wrench...get under there and........

Brings to mind Winston Churchill's comment about the Americans and the British being two peoples separated by a common language...

On of my early fun jobs was translating between British English and American English for a native of London...who needed to write documents intended for use by the US Military. I still have the occasional Briticism creeping into my writing.

And it's always a bit of fun when my DW, a former British Subject, gets tangled by an American idiom...and I have to translate or explain again.

I bought some really GROOOOVY braided leather bracelets to wear so I have a visual reminder if I forget....maybe I'll let my hair grow out also to get the whole look going.
Are bell bottoms too much?

Thank you Martin. I'm actually pretty excited

Pretty excited to be laid up for 12 weeks or excited because you're getting fixed up?

Good luck and take care of yourself

Thanks Brad. Excited about the possibility of reduced pain 24/7 and reducing the need for medications. The trial run with the stimulator was very successful. First time in many many years where I woke up in the morning and wasn't in very bad pain. Enough that it is hard to walk for an hour or so. Seriously, it sounds like drama but literally difficult to stand up and walk. I'm hoping those days will be over. If it could only make me smarter...

All the best Mike....can't say I'd be excited about someone mucking around with my back.. Ask to see his hands out in front of him, to see how steady they are, before proceeding.

Hope and praying everything goes as great as you want it to be and wishing you and Lynn the very best from the two of us.

Cheers
Tony and DW

I am just a couple of (hundred) miles to the right from Richards place, in case you need a shop and someone to crawl under your rig and tighten stuff up.
BTW, do NOT trust your GPS to find Richards place. We had 2 separate GPS running (Wife likes her own) and both sent us down a sandy dirt road, which was the very opposite end of Richards place. I had to pull my 52' on private property to turn around.
Best wishes with your procedure, hope it works out for you.

Thanks for the heads up Peter. We are going to try and visit Richard while we're in the area. Good info to have. We are gonna be at at Topsail SP for a couple weeks. We've been east, west, and north in the rig so it's time we headed south I figure.

I hope all goes well and a speedy recovery Mike.

I have to say I may be having second thoughts about this aluminites hobby. It seems like everyone here is suffering from some serious ailment. I'm wondering if the aluminum is off gassing something mysterious that's affecting everybody. Maybe I should park my Airstreams for awhile and go play on my boats or antique cars or something less hazardous.

Hey Mike wishing you a quick recovery and hopefully pain free. Don't let Peter get to close to your rig or he will have you at the parts house replacing everything..

Hope you and Lynn have a great trip down south

We are heading for Arizona around Dec 15
