Not out of the club but definitely the back of the caravan for sure cause you have the most unusual rig I have ever seen. Seriously did the original buyer take a hit off acid when ticking of the options sheet? Two shocks? Screw that, I want FOUR!

Not to mention that neither of the four shocks you have match any of the mounting points that my two shocks have???????? Seriously?

Cheers
Tony

Hey, doesn't anybody else on this forum work for a living? I see all kinds of action in the middle of the day while I'm stuck at work. (1485 days till retirement).

Sorry Mike I can offer no help. Only two shocks on mine as well.

Resign immediately Lance, no sense in wasting your time away working! Tell Rita that you've gotten your priorities in order and number one on the list is that she shall now receive ALL the glory of being the sole breadwinner of the family! You're doing it for HER!
(then quietly pack your bags and move into the garage)

Mike, I think the two shocks that are connected to the rear sway bar are not original. My guess is it was some POs attempt at fixing something that was broke, like maybe the rear air bags.

If it was me I'd remove those two extras, replace the original ones with Bilstein shocks and you're good to go

Very well could be Brad. I'll get it up in the air a bit and take a closer look. Not a huge priority but I would like to change them out since the front has been done. I better get a better understanding of the situation though. There are after market sway bars for the rear but I've not seen any with the extra pair of shocks. It all looks neat and tidy, not hacked together so I'm assuming it's some after market suspension upgrade. It would make some sense considering some of the other options the original or previous owners had installed. Its my understanding the '82 was the first year for 310s. I think the original owner may have ordered just about all options available. No hydraulic levelers though, I wonder if Airstream even offered them in 82. Ahhhhhhh, another mystery to solve.

Laid off Dec 29 2016 due to business closing, got new job Jan 16 2017, and then laid off Mar 17 2017 due to lost millwork contract in Britain; just got new job as service advisor for a Honda dealership with possible advancement to service manager in 4-5 years. I start Monday.

It has been a tough year; and tougher to say good bye to making money off skills that took me 30 years to build up.

Oh well, on to something new.

Cheers
Tony

PS At least I now get parts and service for my 2012 Honda Pilot on the cheap; and maybe some Airstream parts........

I concur. I do have an anti sway bar back there, but the shocks don't tap into it. I'll take some pics of mine when the weather breaks and see if I can get some parts numbers for shocks.

Cheers
Tony

The rear bags were good when I got the rig but Im at least the third owner so who knows. I believe everything else on the rear suspension is good at this point..... that may be the route I take Brad. Ill investigate further. Good suggestion

Kind of a spur of the moment trip down state to Sam Parr Fish and Wildlife Area in southern Illinois.

Some midwesterners will recognize the "DOD N SUDS" drive-in. Best coney dogs and ice cold root beer around these parts. The root beer served in heavily frosted glass mugs and the coneys served with coney sauce, mustard and chopped onions......a true culinary extravaganza!!!! They still have curb service too. You pull in, park, and order through a mic on a menu board at each space. Then a nice young lady will bring the food right to your car. This chain started in my home town and I actually built an addition onto the house of one of the original owners. Hehehehe.....the home shared some design elements with the drive-ins.....a bit strange. Anyway, most of the franchises have closed over the past ten years and I believe there are only 6 remaining scattered through the Midwest. There were probably over 50 in its hay day. "It just so happens" that we chose a campground just 15 mins from the DOG N SUDS in Robinson IL....about a two hour drive from home.

The park is really beautiful, maybe 4-5 rigs here. Several folks coming in just for the day to mushroom hunt. Its prime time to forage for Morel mushrooms right now......another "treat" in this neck of the woods.

I had a friend give us a bag of Morel mushrooms and they are just a delicious addition to many types of food.
The bigger versions grow in Alaska
