Haha Mike. That post of yours about being blown out of the water by all that is being accomplished is a couple of the garages in the tribe, that cracked me up.

Those big overhauls and polished wheels and all are very impressive.

As well as the depth of experence at play, wow, nice going Bob and Brad, and others.

I finally got myself screwed up for replacing the carpet in the bed/ bath area.
While I haven't done carpet install before, and the area is complicated in shape.
The old piece came out in one piece. Making for a nice template.

Plus the replacement came only in a 12' wide piece. So it was enough for two tries.

It ended up going in nicely and i took the chance to seal the subfloor while I could.
So I now have a nice clean and warm new floor in place.

As to getting so much done as many here seem to.

Once I get beyond the trepidation of starting an unknown job, things do seem to come out ok.
Oh to be fearless in these jobs.

Cheers Richard

Still looking for the tan colored trim for the carpet to hard floor seam.

Does anyone have a recomendation of what product to use to get some residue from GOOF OFF off my clear coat? I used some of the Goof Off to clean up a couple spots and it has left a very visible residue that I cant seem to get off. Ive used vinegar/water/Dawn, mineral spirits, and WD40 and they havent worked. Anything else I should try that wont damage the clear coat?

Mike

I am afraid you partially melted the clearcoat and that is what you are seeing. Goof Off is a solvent type cleaner, like Lacquer thinner and should not be used for cleaning, despite its labeling.

Well dammit.....I thought I had read that it was safe. Dog gone it. Well, luckily they are not huge spots but Ill see them every time I walk by. Thanks for the info Peter.

So, what are safe products to use on the clear coat? Ive used Goof Off to clean up some urethane calk, heavy bug residue...cant think of anything else where Ive used it. What should I use for those applications? My clear coat is in really good shape, Id like to keep it that way as long as possible.

Dog gone it, I really thought that I had read of folks using Goof Off with good results. Oh well.

Mike, I may have spoken to quickly, not real knowing which Goof Off product you actually used. I did a quick search and saw that now they have Goof Off Grease and tar remover. I was referring to the professional goof off people use to remove dried paint and stuff.
The most potent I ever use on clear coat is Paint thinner or Turpentine. Never anything as strong as Lacquer thinner
This is what I was referring to:

Ya, Im afraid that's exactly what I used. Ehhh, its not too big a deal I guess. I see the residue but it doesnt smack you in the face. Thanks for your thoughts Peter, heres hoping that you can make it to the next MOHO get together. Theres probably 42 people or so that owe you a beer or two.

GO CUBS

Hoping myself that it will work out somehow with Moho get together. Really would enjoy meeting all of you nuts. Forget the beer, just bring me a little goof off, that will do the trick (see I know why you purchased it in the first place )

So Peter, you ratted me out on the "off label benefits" of the Goof Off! Doesnt matter, Lynn was getting suspiscious of all the little yellow cans littering the garage floor anyway...
I. Will. Get. You. Back......

Nice park Mike. Just you and the wildlife.
Your lanai setup look neat at night.

Tell Lynn folks are standing by for her virtual retirement party.🎉🎊

Cheers Richard

Looks great Mike! Very jealous of you and lynn. I managed to work on DD all afternoon today. She's almost ready to get back on the road. Two more projects to go!
