Master cylinder

Hi! I recently purchased a 86 345 and am learning the many features on the rig. Thanks to many that have helped todate. The question today is where is the master cylinder located? I read the manual from cover to cover in the brake section but there is no mention of the master cylinder. 2nd question is what is the red light that is to the right of the ignition key it comes on and goes off for no apparrent reason?

Master cylinder is on the outside of the 'firewall'. Kind of in a line with the brake pedal linkage. You access it from the left wheel well. Be careful if you raise the rig to get access!

Guy is right on with the location of the MC. You can check the fluid levels through a small hole in the metal panel which acts as the "inner fender" or "firewall".

The red light is a likely your low air warning light or your "jack" light. Your rig has a supplemental air bag rear suspension on it. When the light comes on it means your rear air pressure is too low....you should not drive the rig at speed without rear air pressure. You can manually check the air pressure in the system through a schrader valve located between the drive wheels and tag wheel on the curbside of the rig...some rigs require you check it on the bottom of the accumulator tank between the tag axles.

If it's the jack light then it means one of your four jacks is down....these use mecury micro switches and sometimes even when they are "up" the switch does not switch.
