Lower Compartments - orientation of locks

Do you know how should be orientated the locks for the lower outside compartments. It seems that I have all possible combinations. In closed position, some are horizontal, some are verticl. In order to open them, some are rotated clockwise and some counterclockwise. What was the factory standard?

The type of lock used on these compartments can be oriented as you wish. You can easily remove the lock and invert it and also invert the lever. It will then operate the opposite way.

When these locks are installed at the factory, it can go either way as the lever can be flipped to perform the locking function.
