LED Lights on 87 345 rear tail/turn

I found great led lights to replace the old bulbs. Takes about 30 min for all four lights.

These are the lights I bought from Auto zone.

1.Next remove the lens cover from new light

2. Remove the 2nd light that is connected that has the brown wire. Held on with two Phillips screws. ( save that little light for something else)

3. Next remove the old cans from the light housing.
4. Cut wires to old lights.
5. Connect new lights. A. White connects to white
B. Yellow connects to the green wire on the new lights
C. The white wire connects to the white wire.

After all is connected put new LED lights in leave out back up lights so you can reach behind to hold the back as you put lens back on. Only two screws will hold the LED light housing in when you screw back on the lens. I chose to order new lenses and I used all back up lenses to show up the LED lights better.

The only other thing I may do when I get the chance I will remove the back up light and just make all three stop/tail. I already have two backup lights on the lower part of the Moho.

Each light cost about $24. And I have 4 little leftover LED lights to use somewhere else on the Moho. Yea! They were the little ones that need to be removed to make new lights to fit in the housing.

Got my dinette cushions done. Next is the sofa next week. I think I like them. Lol. Before and after pics. Anything is better. Lol. He still needs to add the tufting. But the last pic is what I was going for. Just the cushion.

New Lenses from whom?

I see you ordered new lenses. Did you get these from Vintage Supply?

Also did the color come out alright using the backup lenses. They look like the old "Monarch" 4" lens.

I did get from vintage trailer. Think $7 each. They are the 4" Monarch. Yeah the color of the red LED? the sine through great. You can use the old if you want. I liked the look of the clear backup lens.

So now you just need to install the blinker relay from a 1965 T-bird, or from a 1968 Cougar, where the blinker starts with the inside light, then first and second, then all 3, and back to the first...
How awesome would THAT look!

....On the subject of lights, has anyone ever replaced the front overhead cab clearance lights (not just the bulbs or lenses, but the entire fixture)???

Mine are not looking so great, and I'm not sure what they're made of, if they can be polished, or if they are available new.

Thanks for any info,

Charly

That would be great. I saw your website with the tow dolly accident. I flat tow my jeep. Back to cougar, so you think I can do that? The new mustangs do that as well.

Yes I have. I replaced them with LED from walmart. $7 a light. Just remove the cover and then remove the two phillips screws. Then you can pull the wire from the old light and put a new connector on the new light to hook to the old wires. I also like to put a little valulken sealer where the screws go. Basically they are exact replacement from your old. I recommend the LED lights they use less power, much brighter and less maintenance .

I used the Blazer brand when I replaced mine, but these should fit fine as well. Have used this company for many of my LED re-lighting projects. Great selection and great prices. superbrightleds.com

I would also use all Stainless screws when you do this. I replace even the ones holding the housings to the coach.

Here is a link to the running lights on their site.
