Keyless Entry
I want to fix my Keyless Entry System on my 91 350. Has anyone here been successful at that? Everything works on mine except the servo that moves the dead bolt. When you touch the buttons on the outside the isle lights come on and when you punch the combination you can hear a relay click and power is sent to the servo but the deadbolt does not move. I figure the deadbolt servo was installed before the interior skins were put on so I need to remove the whole kitchen and drill the interior rivets or cut a small access hole to replace the servo and then cover with a no hole switch plate but where is this servo located. I asked the old-timers at Jackson center when I was there but they can't remember where it's located. Any Ideas? I know this is not an important feature but I'm OCD about these things. If it has it, it’s got to work!
Do you think this is the right part?

I am just thinking here. You might be able to remove the deadbolt and the servo should be right behind it.
Has the deadbolt a manual override?
These things get sticky with no use. Try to spray some silicone into there and work the deadbolt back and forth, with a magnet, if you can't grab it with needle nose pliers.
The servo is probably powered thru a relay, that may be fused?

The deadbolt works with a key and from the inside with the twist handle. I'm positive it's the servo that has failed. I know power is geting to it. When you manually twist the the deadbolt handle you can hear the gears in the servo mechanisim working. Under the sink is a module that controls the keyless entry and it checks out ok. I can see where the wires from the servo exit at the bottom of the wall under the sink and I think I may need to get a video borescope and shove it up there and try to see this servo. I wonder if I can rent that tool? I love buying tools but I bet a borescope is $$$

I did buy on of those remote cameras and it paid for itself many times over. You just have to try to orient your head to try to visualize the image from the right angle.

I will head down to Harbor Freight today and buy that. I like the fact that when I'm done using a tool from Harbor Freight I can use it as solder

Thanks for that offer. I went down to HF and pick one up. While I was in line to pay some guy behind me gave me a 25% off coupon. SCORE! It works great. I went for the more expensive model with a 3.5 " screen and the camera on the end is much smaller than the cheaper model.
I used it in the Airstream by feeding the camera up the accesses hole where the wires exited but all I saw was pink insulation. I will next try drilling a small hole just below the dead bolt and see what I see with this new cool tool. Will report back. Steve

I bought one of those about a year ago. You will love it and find many uses for it. Everything from DIY colonoscopys to snaking wires through walls.
I've even used it to inspect the dogs ears for grass seeds.

Well, I have my kitchen apart! So while here, may as well address the keyless entry. I'm adding a stainless steel backsplash, but going about it the long way. Looks like a suitable place for a tangent
Having a remote fob to open the door again would be great. What happened to mine is that somewhere in the setup, something weakened. Whenever I try the remote, I can hear the relay open, but there's not enough power to move the deadbolt. Having the correct key to the deadbolt in case of battery failure is important, and although there many keys for my motorhome, none open that lock.
So I need to have the lock re keyed before putting in a new servo. Anyway, I took the rotozip to the thin piece of wood you see in the picture and can now see a little more of whats going on. Time for the boro-scope!

Those are great pictures. It looks like the servo is below the dead lock. I wonder if it is riveted to the frame or the skin. It does not look like I will need to remove the counter top to get to this if I just cut an access hole but how will I drill out the rivets. Maybe an angle drill would reach in. I love airstream surgery. I would welcome more pictures as you progress. Thank you.
