Just saw two Airstream motorhomes inside of two minutes

Well I could hardly believe it.
I'm on a road trip with my Brother in his rig.

A thirty' classic trailer and ford f 250.

We are traveling from New Orleans area to cruise the southwest for a few weeks.
About four days into the trip now, so the conversations have ranged widley.
While driving thru Amarillo Tx. This afternoon we were talking about how few airstreams are seen out cruising the country compared to SOBs.
I mentioned that in the last year since I have been traveling and camping quite a bit with my 345. That I had not seen even one on the road and only two or three in parks or parked in yards. Pretty sparse. Then within three minutes of saying that we saw a 345 parked in the lot of a roadside motel and then what looked like a 310 parked at the edge of a large field with the cars of field workers.

Wow two within two or three miles of each other. Well shut my mouth. Seems like a proper Texas response. :-)

Just wanted to share this moment with those that could appreciate it.

Cheers Richard

Hi!

I'm brand new here and your post was the first I read. I had to comment.

I actually own an '89 345 LE we call "Oscar" & an '87 345 LE named "Jack". Both are runners and mostly original. " Oscar" & I have logged about 15,000 mi this summer with my '73 Sovereign in tow. I absolutely have the sickness and love my Airstreams.

I get excited when I see another 345 too!

Happy Shiny Trails!

At least gas has gone down almost a buck since I began that trip!

If you want the numbers...

From San Francisco to Mammoth Lakes = 4.3 mpg & 30 mph most of the grades.

Mammoth to Portland = 7 mpg avg and little grade slowing.

Portland to L.A. = 11.3 mpg!!!!

Gas 454 Banks Power Kit as manufactured. No mods. Nearly 70 total foot of shiny madness!

My tablet won't post pics for some reason. I'll have some up soon.

WOW , Liam, you are deep into it. Two 345s. And a trailer too! Can't wait to see pics. The 70' of shiny aluminum sounds amazing.

Now you have found your home on the net here at airforums.

Welcome, you are going to like it here!

My 345 is a 1989 LE. Like your Oscar

Tho based near Prescott Az.
We cruised thru your area this summer. Arrived on the coast at Morro Bay. cruised up the coast as far as Bodega Bay. Love that coast area with the big trees. Et all.
Then climbed the sierras to Lake Tahoe . Sure is pricey staying in RV parks in Ca. But so beautiful and varied.
I want to explore the north coast areas next trip. Perhaps we could rondevue somewhere, I'd love check out your fleet.

Cheers Richard

I haven't been able to upload pics to these posts but my profile has a pic of my '89 345 LE w/Sovereign behind. Yours looks great!

Yep, I've had the sickness for almost 30 yrs. Lol

How'd ya like the Bodega breeze? Wind always erks me there.

Hey, always welcome fellow Airstreamers and the coffee's always on! I'll get more pics up when it allows me to. I'm on Facebook if its ok to say so.

This forum is like having a library of shiny memories from the units themselves rather than the owners. I'm losing loads of time reading all the great threads!
