Jet Blue's Mobile Airstream Classic 350 at Colonial Airstream

JetBlue's traveling Airstream mobile vehicle BlueBetty, a mobile marketing unit that looks like the inside of a JetBlue jet, to promote the airline to College Students visited Colonial Airstream today.

Love it! It is so cool how 20+ year old Airstream motorhomes are used for this type thing. Our own member with his rolling Golf equipment showroom, and others we have seen. Hope to see the new Classic Moho outfitted in some awesome custom designs when it comes out.

These are the most beautiful motor homes on the road. It is thrillling to see the many uses far sighted designers and people like GlenCoombe can come up with. I would love to see this coach in person.

not sure about that, Glen woul dhave to tell you, but it will be interesting to see the finsihed interior.
Do you know where someone would obtain ready made cabinets that would fit into the curved motorhomne interior...are they available ? Just wondering as an update...some of the newer ones used wood.

Neat,
There are quite a few of those old funeral coaches out there, I don't know if anybody really knows just how many. Many years ago in Greensboro, NC there were at least 2 and possibly 3 of them at the same time. There was also one in Fayetteville, NC at that time. And as best I can tell they have all been sold.

The latest eBay Funeral Coach is item number 4579859886 the 35' version still has intact the casket chamber and flower area. This unit will likely sell for less than $20,000. A bargain indeed.
This week my coach is doing double duty as support for the three remaining bike riders in my group who are heading to Wilmington NC from Asheville NC. They all rode 80 miles in the rain today as I made sales calls along the route. We started the ride with 1120 riders on Sunday... the rain today has thinned the crowd some today.
We outfitted the rear end to carry all four of our bikes on "bike tights".

Did the front wheels pivot as they were supposed to?
Seriously, it is great to see these old units used everyday by businesses.

balgrn,
They were designed to carry a coffin and a small funeral party. The ones I remember were advertised to go and retrieve a loved one and take the family along.

I see those hearse motorhomes all the time on eBay.

I wonder if this beast could also fare as well as their plane did that had the stuck nose gear.

Airstream produced these at the suggestion of a former employee who also was connected to that industry. They also sold other custom coaches that were outfitted for special use..see of course the Nasa Astro Van still in use today.
There have been buses, and limousines, the funeral coach, and others.See last winters 'Airstream Life' for the history of the Classic motorhome.

I have seen a few posts about these units. I thought I read that they did not have kitchens, or maybe it was bathrooms. Can anyone explain what the differences are? I know that they have a very large storage area in the rear, and we all know what that was for.

I saw this driving by in Boston a few months ago... it's in incredible condition. My mom works for JetBlue and couldn't believe they had such a thing!

It might have been designed to offset any profits so they could cry poor and get government bailouts.
