In beyond my depth!

The dashboard gages on my '84 310 diesel have gone haywire for the last time! This time the turbo pyrometer, and the tach. I'm ready to take the whole rats nest apart and wire it correctly! One thing I know will be needed is a new speedo head and cable ... any ideas for sources? Anyone (besides Chaplain Kent, whom I can contact directly) ever done this job and willing to offer suggestions (I always do digital photos while disassembling)? The 12-v "distribution" fuze panel need a bunch of those plastic lock-in wire ends that hold the wires in place ... does anybody know where to get such things or (hope, hope) have some "used" that might be available??

jking,

I really like the look of these gages guy99 has referenced! Why not go the whole way and put that great looking new dash they have in your moho ? After all, I just spent all my retirement money on a Gear Vendors 6-speed, and I would love some company in spending big bucks. Seriously, that's a great looking dash they have, and should fix all your wiring difficulties too.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Thanks to each of you! I feel better already! Seriously, this coming winter the project will begin, and all the help is much appreciated. The sources have already proved useful.

Regarding your speedo, I had mine repaired by a local guy (who has since gone out of business), it has worked fine ever since. These guys do gauge repair:
http://www.speedometershop.com/, although when I tried to have my fuel gauge repaired I called them and asked if they could fix it, they said sure. After I sent it to them and waited a few weeks I called them and they said they were just going to call me (yeah right), told me it was not repairable.
