Hourly rate for mechanic

Hi guys,

Please would you let me know the hourly rate for a competent auto mechanic who is prepared to do a private job on my Airstream MH. He has worked on them before and can do most stuff. I will buy parts so I need just labour costs

cheers
Nick

Could be anywhere from $30-$60 hr in the U.S. If it's at a licensed shop much more.

Labor costs, per hour, vary all over the world.

Or, are you asking how long should it take to repair or replace a particular part?

Yep here in the metro STL area it's just over $100 an hour. That includes our local Airstream dealership.

$104/hour -

Last I checked (over a year ago) the RV shops were getting $86 per hour.

A mechanic doing some private work for you isn't going to charge a $100.00 an hour. Those are shop rates. The mechanic is making maybe a third of that, and most are working flat rate so their calculated hourly salary would vary.My one big deviation from cabinetmaking was to work for Landrover North America as a construction consultant suprvising construction of dealerships from Chicago to Tampa. For the first year I trained as a Range Rover tech and worked on them both here and in the U.K.
