Question Hood latch

Forum members,

On my 88 345, I've a broken latch on one side of my engine compartment door. (Mine are black plastic w/ about a 1" hole). I can sort of rig it to stay closed but it doesn't stay all the way closed and the lop-sided look is getting tired. Anyone have a clue on this part number or name?

Thanks,

Nick

Maybe it would help if you could post a picture. I know what my 'hood' latches look like but they aren't black.

Ditto what he said. The engine access latches on the front of my 84 are all metal. You are talking about the exterior latches right? Or do you have something on the doghouse inside that is broken?

Thumbs up found my latch

hi all... thanks for the replies. after many hours on the phone i finally realized that there was a 'southco' printed on the part. i went to their website and after a few more hours tracked down the part and a distributor --cost me $30. i believe that some airstreams came chrome and others black plastic like mine, but they probably all are made by southco. i've attached a part drawing of mine (in case someone else runs into the same problem).

thanks,

nick

here's a link to the southco site (with a variety of latches that probably cover all models)

Southco - E3 - Vise Action Compression Latches
