Henschen Tag Axle Hub Available + 3 Alcoas
I thought I'd let you all know that I have a GOOD Tag Axle hub available off of a 345. A couple of years ago, a bearing failure on my 345 ruined one hub, I am sure I don't have to tell you that they are Unobtainium!
Anyway, after months of searching and absolutely no luck, I found a trailer that had been made from a 345 tag axle and bought the whole thing - pure luck and 1200 miles of driving to get it.
I have sold my 345, and have a spare hub for sale, if you need one let me know, if you want a spare (a great idea) let me know.
I also have a set of adapters that I had made to adapt the 8-bolt hubs on new axles to the 10-bolt Alcoas, not the greatest solution, but a lot better than the options.
I also have three 10-bolt Alcoa wheels available, also from the 345, they need polished.
I've had these for a while, and I know how difficult they can be to find, and I'm cleaning out the garage and thought I'd post here.
Thanks much - great forum, and I miss the 345 for sure.

Hey,
Do you still have the old hub? I'd be interested in that. Maybe fixable, or better yet, we might be able to duplicate it. Can't be that weird. My thought is, it is probably a stock hub, drilled for 10 bolt pattern, but now they use 8 bolt pattern. Anyway, I'd be interested in it, if you still got it. DJ

I'm acquiring the entire lot Dave. I will be studying the damaged hub for possible repair or duplication.
If you look at the hubs you will see there are 10 "lobes", for lack of a better term, which are drilled for the studs. The normal 8 lug drum has 8 "lobes."

Hey,
It looks pretty straight forward to duplicate, from a machining standpoint. Are the lobes even nessessary. Well, if you find no need for it ,keep me in mind. I got a lot of small machine shops up here that do small lots. Thanks. DJ

The machine work is pretty basic, it's the foundry work that gets interesting. I will keep you in mind.

Hey,
I'm not to concerned about the foundry work . Kinda thinking you could. Turn the hub out of round stock. The drum too, I think. It would be a whole lot tougher than fasted sterling. I don't need one. Our coach only has 5500 miles on it. I got the original pads still. I replaced the calipers cause they are old. The seals concerned me. Some of this stuff on our coaches is easy to remake.
Banana wraps come to mind. I can and will do those in my garage. And they won't cost 400 bucks. Anyway,,, keep me posted thanks DJ
