heaters

I had started a thread for front heater replacement in a 345 at the end of 2008. Summer came and did not progress on heater replacement. I have gone thru original thread along with every other thread on heaters(that was given to me in a search). Not much there, one that replaced with a heater that required an exterior access panel etc. The space is basically 24" deep 24" wide and 14" tall and situated under the sink base. Furnace was the original Duo Therm model 9002 with 16,000 btu output. I need to replace before fall camping and again looking for whatever input I can receive. When doing a quick search for replacements-quite a few will not fit within the space limitations.

We recently had the side skin replaced on our 345LE by our local AS dealer and he pointed out this would be a good time to update the heater because the new style exaust vents are cut verticle while the older ones are horizontal. Just wanted to mention this before you purchase a new one and then find out it fits the space but alot of extra work for the exaust/vent opening, presuming your 345 is similar to mine.

I chose to stay with the original DUO THERM as we never had any problems with it, knock on wood. Our 345 has plenty of heat sources and living in desert climate added to my decision.

He simply suggested that as he was in process of cutting the slot in the new skin for the exaust.

One of the PO's removed the under-the-sink heater, and we bought a portable catalytic heater for those really cold mornings...have been planning to mount an Olympic heater on the doorside of the sink counter with a hinge to redirect as needed...the duotherm just pulls too much energy.

unit diagram

Does anyone have a unit diagram for a Suburban NT20S that they could forward to me so that I can check for clearance to see if this unit will fit under the sink area? From what I understand there are two 4" holes on the left and right side of the unit(nothing at the bottom like the Duo-Therm). The unit length is approx 21" so I need to see where the location of the exhaust port and intake port for combustion air is.
