Hail damage - What is 79 Excella 24' motorhome worth?

Just received some hail damage to my 79 Excella. Not real bad, but there are a few dents. No windows were broken. My insurance agent is not familiar with Airstreams, so was coming up with a value of about $1800 for the Excella, which I believe is much too low for a 24' Excella, with less than 110,000 miles, a NEW motor at about 93000 miles. Can anyone give me an idea as to what my Motor Home's value is? Thanks for any assistance you can give me.

Depending, probably between $4000 and $12,000. Pictures would help.

Thanks. By the way, the estimate of $1800 was sight unseen by the insurance adjuster. Pictures that we took 3 years ago are at the following site: Here are some pictures of our 79 Airstream Excella 24 We started to try to sell it, but then never really followed through, hoping probably that my husbands health would improve enough to use it ourselves. The motor home has just been started and moved on our property, but we haven't used it since we took those pictures. So the pictures are still good.

It's too bad you hadn't put a price in that ad, it would have been good ammunition for the adjuster.

lots of factors to consider condition inside, out, systems, mileage, etc. When we were looking back in 2003 the 24 ft MoHo models were not abundant. The good conditioned ones were fetching $13K-$15K. In this economy, the deviation may be great.

You could do an ebay search for similar vehicles to establish value. Is your insurance based on agreed value? It is common to have a repair estimate from an Airstream Dealer. To repair hail damage the panels have to be replaced which is expensive enough to total most Airstreams. It would not be surprising to have a repair estimate over 10K. Often when a vehicle is totaled the owner will buy the vehicle back from the insurance company very cheap, but with a salvage title.

I have my 71 Airstream insured for $10500 agreed value based on a professional appraisal from Polk Associates, Polk is also an Airstream owner and a forums member. Send me a pm if you want his contact info.

Thank You everyone for your replies, suggestions and help. I have settled with my insurance company. They ended up with a value of $10,000, the amount of insurance I had on it. I still don't think the hail even looks that bad, but am happy. Of course they don't pay 100%, but only 50%, which still helps a lot. Before it was for sale, now think I'll keep it, let my kids use it.
