Unless it has some sort of sci-fi zero-point energy generator or splits off the hydrogen by a VERY efficient photosynthesis process, there's simply no way that this will generate more energy than your engine did on its own. Your alternator has to supply the energy to split off the TINY amount of hydrogen from water that this could generate, which would consume way more energy than it added by introducing a little gaseous H2 into the combustion chamber.

Assuming the testimonial is from a real person, they may have been "hypermiling" unconsciously, driving in such a way that allowed their truck to use less fuel, or perhaps most of the $3500 goes to a really good tune-up that causes buyers to get more mileage for a while, in which case it could be $500 worth of tune-up and $3000 of snake-oil.

it seems this guy adis sprung onto the forum 1/31/10 and there's nothing else showing about him .

re: hydrogen power system?

you might as well buy several hundred balloons, fill them all with hydrogen (or helium for that matter) and distribute them evenly along the inside of the roof of your AS. this way the upward force of the lighter than air gas will significantly reduce the weight of your vehicle thereby providing greatly inproved gas mileage.

CAUTION - 1. do not attempt while using any open flame or heat source.

2. it is not recommended that you do this and leave your vehicle in the Arizona sun.

3. do not over inflate. the AS may not remain where you left it.

4. not responsible for damage resulting from any helium assisted AS drifting over Roswell NM.

- of course you could just buy a few pounds of Flubber. simply send a SASE to........

ROFL! You are all so great. That's why I come to the forums with questions. I just talked to a muffler guy and for $400 he can install a new dual muffler and raise the mpg that way. He just wants to know if the 1987 345 has a catalytic converter. Does anyone know about this? I posted a new thread with the question.

The hydrogen generator is a fraud in my opinion. Better MPG - Real or Scam?

Take note of the 'Fringe science & fraud' section at the end -- Oxyhydrogen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If these devices alter behavior in getting the operator to back off on acceleration & top speed, that doesn't mean that the device actually provides better efficiency.

This thread is interesting to me because I was recently put in contact with an individual that represents a product called "Aqua tune". This introduction was made by a person that I have known for a number of years, who is in the car business. Because of this relationship, I don't like to think that I am being set up as a "mark". The product would seem to be similar to what is being discussed here, and sells for $795.00. Installation not included. I have seen it installed on the sales rep's car, and it would appear to be a fairly simple install. Increased performance and MPG are both promised in the range of 10% to 30%.

I have also twice spoken to an individual in Southern California who claims to have just recently installed this device on a car exactly like mine (2000 Honda Insight, five speed) which still reigns as one of the highest MPG cars ever widely produced. I average 50+ MPG, and am usually the fastest car in the left lane. This car will get 40+ MPG at 80 to 90 miles per hour, all day long. On the only occasion that I ever maintained control of my right foot in order to try to maximize my MPG, I drove from Boston to Providence, RI employing every trick I could think of (drafting, coasting down hill, sacrificing speed on up hill climbs). I got 82MPG.

So as not to project the impression that I am some sort of looney liberal tree hugger, I should mention that I still drive the H1 HUMMER that I purchased new in 1993. I am admittedly a motor head. I am also quite a skeptic.

In any case, this fellow in SoCAL claims to have recently achieved 130 MPG (compared to his usual 80 to 90 MPG) using this product for the first time in an organized "hyper-mileing" driving competition in Southern CAL. This is driving, usually bare foot for maximum throttle sensitivity, for the sole purpose of extracting maximum MPG. It is anything but relaxing.

Based on the two conversations that I have had, this guy describes himself as an old school hot-rodder (still owns a couple of street rods). We chatted about a LOT of things on the phone for a half hour the other day, and he knows his stuff. He sounds VERY CREDIBLE to me.

But of course, all good con men have to sound credible, says the skeptic in me.

I haven't ordered mine yet, but if I do, I'll let you all know how it works out. God knows that I've blown 800 bucks on crazier stuff than this.

It will be like a personal episode of Myth-busters!

That is classic!!! Thanks for finding that!

What in the world is a "Naturopathic" doctor anyway???? From what I can glean...it's a real fancy term for "Folk Doctor".

Seriously?!?!??? Colleges give degrees for that???

If so, I'll bet Granny from The Beverly Hillbillies is a Professor Emeritus of whatever school Ms. Meadows graduated from.

My rule of thumb

Be it medicine, investing, or doodads like this: if the product is that impressive why hasn't the itty bitty company been bought out by one of the giants of finance, pharmacy, or automotive? These companies have huge budgets and the competition to gain a market edge is intense, the odds of a significant development not being purchased early by them is so small as to be insignificant. So my rule of thumb is this, if the product line hasn't been acquired by one of the big boys there is a very good reason- like it doesn't work.

I contacted a manufacter of one of these units in Jupiter Fl. that on the surface projected a minium of 10% increase in fuel MPG. After talking to him, the truth of the matter didn't give the increase. Even if it did, 10% of 6-7 MPG would take forever to recoup!
