GMC parts

I have a 89 345 with a 454. Have finally gotten the oil leak fixed, but the oil cooler lines are seeping from the rubber part. Checked with GM and the parts needed (#12472203 and # 12472204) are no longer available from GM. Hopefully someone out there knows where to find old stock or remanufactured parts. If not my only option is to have the lines made to order.

I'd check the yellow pages for 'hose couplings fittings tubing' and have some one build some hydraulic hoses. That's want is on 'Silver Bullet's' transmission and oil cooler lines. Just need to know want fittings you want on the ends, how long and clamp it down.

Be careful when specing the fitting on the oil cooler. As I remember they are a bastard 27 mm thread that GM used. If possible cut the lines short of the connection to the cooler and make up new hose lines. Attaching the lines to the old tubing will require more than just hose clamps, because they will leak or slide off the tubing.

Any hydraulic shop should be able to help you.

Lost my last message, but will try again...There is a Barthmobile Forums that is an alternate information access...they, too, have a fine rig on a P30 chassis, and their forums bailed us out of trouble when it came to finding a part(front hub) that AS couldn't...we ordered from a place in Minnesota(they had 2, we took 'em both)...you might try their base of information...friendly folks, and as avid about their rigs as we are ours...mike

I had leaks on mine and leaks are not tolerated on my stuff. Found out that GM dumped these years ago. I went to a Hose and Fittings shop and used my old metal parts and they fabricated new flexible oil hoses that will withstand 1000 PSI and 600 degrees heat and that stopped my leaks. Cost fro me was about 1/3 what the GM parts peeps said they were before they were discontinued.

I just had new lines made at NAPA. Take your old ones in and get the right length. They work perfectly. Throw those aluminum things away.

Hi to all!!! Its -31 here!! Can't wait til feb to go south!!! I went to a hydraulic hose manufacturer and he just copied the old ones and the cost was only $70 not to bad I thought.

Everyone who has our old coaches would be well advised to replace those lines ASAP. Also, the power steering hoses, unless replaced recently, could go at any time.

NAPA sells "low pressure" hydraulic rubbber line that slips over pipe/hose barb fittings. If you can change the end of the lines to a standard fitting that will mate with the barbs this is the way to go. I have been using this product for over 15 years on several vehicles with no failures.
