fresh water fill

I decided it was time to find a fresh water fill door assy. The local AS dealer is of no help. So I want to a RV part store a in OKC, OK. Sure enough they had the very assy except if wasn't chrome but white. A little spray paint made it silver (I think).

Now for the problem. This is the 1 1/4" filling that screws into the water tank. It's broken and brittle. It is not piper thread but machine tread.
WHERE CAN I GET THIS?

Look in the plumbing parts department at the local big box store, and see if a standard 1 1/4 PVC threaded adapter will work. Pipe threads are not that different.

To me, the picture looks close to 'normal' pipe threads in that size, and it looks like PVC material that has just deteriorated.

Failing that. thread a new one in as far as it goes easily, and seal the heck out of it with sealant. I'm assuming this is on the top of the tank, and does not have to hold pressure?

I think this:

Any good hardware or plumbing supply should have one.

A NPT pipe thread PVC 1 1/4" fitting wouldn't even start. Then I found a gray plastic fitting that's labeled 1 1/4" insert MIP adapter and it threaded right in. I think the MIP(male iron pipe) is a straighter thread and the NPT(national pipe thread) is more tapered.
Was afraid I was going to have to cut the tank and try to seal a new boss in. Just needed to find the right hardware guy.

Have you triied Locke Supply? Also, at here is a Mobile Home parts place in OKC on South Sheilds that may be of help. I have had luck with some plumbing parts there.

Bought the door assy at that mobile home/RV parts/True Value store on south Shields. Picked it up at a warehouse on SE 22nd east of I-35. He couldn't find the fitting though.
Got the gray fitting at the True Value Hardware in Jones America.

Yup. Sometimes you just get lucky. Other times, it’s a minimum of three trips to the big box store...glad it worked out!
