Excella motorhome suspension overhaul ?'s

Hello all,
I recently acquired a 1979 Excella MH 28ft and am beginning the process of restoration. I'm reworking the suspension at the moment and am having trouble getting the part # for the rear Firestone Airride shocks. I know they are 1T14 F4 rubber components as embossed on the bags but the top plate decals are smeared beyond recognition. basic dimensions for the top plate are : 6.25" in diameter, 2x 3/8-16 bolts 3.5" spacing & 1/4 NPT inlet.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

John

I would look at this thread first:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f156...nt-166708.html

also this link:

https://www.truckspring.com/suspensi...tion-tips.aspx

It can be difficult to assertion what parts went on what model, or even year of coach, as these coaches were custom built to order and AS had a nasty habit of using whatever was in stock that day in the build.

Hope this helps.......

There are also a number of threads that will help you with this job; to find them I usually don't use the forum search engine but Google, for example: air forums rear airbag replacement

Cheers
Tony

I found NAPA to be a good source of air suspension and air brake parts when I had a Bluebird Wanderlodge. Take the part to the counter; maybe they can help you.

Minor edit to Tony's good advice. Use airforums as one word.

rear air shocks *resolved*

Firestone air ride assemblies for the '79 Excella motorhome

W01-358-5311

I wound up removing them & measuring features to match. Units had a hole in lower pleated section that rides on the lower conic component.

John, my notes were calling for the 5405, they are basically the same but have a higher load rating
