entry door refinishing

Has anyone removed and replaced the skin (?particle board?) on the interior of the entry door? I found a neat door mural that I could "wallpaper" on. I also need to replace the door window shade. I can drill out all the rivets but how does it come out of the trim around the edges? if you bend it out will it bend back in?

mine came with the wallpaper on the inside of the door already peeling off, so I stripped it just like wallpaper and used vinyl to vinyl wallpaper adhesive to put new paper on..I don't trust the prepasted with the humidity I always add more adhesive, I live in Fl..as for the shade, I pulled off the old one and cut a new one the same size, I left the roller in place. turn it really tight to tichten the spring, and hold it at the end with a vise grip, so it does not turn back. I held it with tape and then put in thumb tacks to hold..my staple gun does not fit in there..works good, and I did not have to tear the door apart..Oh I forgot I used a small bead of caulk around the edge of the wallpaper on the door to make sure the edges did not peel off.. good luck

I thought you had to take the door paneling off to get to the shade?

On my trailer door, after a lot of struggling I found I could just reach the end fitting with the ends of two fingers, turn it through 90 degrees, and lift it out of the vertical slot. This is at one end only. The other bracket has a small hole for a pin on the end of the roller. I don't remember which end was which. It appears impossible at first, but, after learning on my trailer, I did the job in a few seconds for an Airstreamer I met last winter at Long Key State Park. Home Depot will make a replacement blind c/w roller for a few dollars. Happy struggling!
