Easy searching

I recently stumbled across a search engine called "jaxed site mash". It is so cool that I almost hate to tell anyone about it.

The site will allow you to do a simultaneous and filterable search of every Craig's list and ebay listing for cars, trucks, trailers, and MOTORHOMES by brand, model, and year.

In case anyone is interested, there is a low mileage, 1995 Classic Diesel Pusher presently listed in Nashville. $35K.

WARNING: It will take all the fun out of staying up all night, endlessly searching.

HAVE FUN!!!

Yes...Been using it for the past couple of years.

It is nice to be able to search other brands as well.

Thanks! I like that. I just did a search for kayaks. It also is a good idea if you want to price something and are in doubt of the range to se the price point at.

Cool, but if this makes it easier and quicker for me to spend money, my wife is going to hate you. ;>)

That motorhome is a real "fixer-upper" and should be priced at $10k for all the work it is going to need.... I went to see it and have pictures!

Hi GREENovator,

Are you referring to the Classic Diesel Pusher in Nashville that I had originally mentioned? If so, please provide details. I've been fighting the urge to have a look at it.

Also, I see that you appear to already own a "Classic Pusher". I have been lusting for one, and would love to hear your thoughts on it from a drivability/power/speed/reliability/comfort/etc standpoint.

What do we do now?

Have you seen....? Craigslist is suing the jaXed Mash web site folks to stop "using" Craigslist. No more inclusion. So, what is everyone using now?

WOW, this is DEPRESSING!

I obviously don't understand the issue from the craigslist perspective.

I would have thought that Jaxed was actually providing them a service.
After using Jaxed, I do know that I will never be able to go back to the tedious process of local searching that seems to be the only way to use craigs.

Very sad, but I suppose I'll be able to catch up on a lot of lost sleep.

We love jaxed. What is it with craigslist? Do they really have that many cross country scammers? I wouldn't think so. Very sad!!!

Well, it will mean more sleep.

for "airstream motorhome" once in awhile, it gives me everything on Craigslist either within a defined area or all over the country.

Maybe the reason why??

In trying to figure out why this has happened, I came across a number of comments and possible explanations posted by many different people. I have attached one that seems most plausible........

It's really very simple why this has happened... Ebay purchased Craigslist for this exact reason. Think about it... Ebay is a nationwide selling tool (the largest in the world) specifically designed to reach the most buyers as possible, whether that be nationwide or worldwide. If Craigslist was/had a nationwide search and free, as it is now, there would be no need for Ebay. Ebay would be defunct within 1-2 yrs. This is Ebay's way of cornering the web marketplace. They do not want you searching nationally or even statewide cause then you'd stop using Ebay. F Egay and Craigslist, which was a non-profit site produced for no other reason than to be the anti-Ebay, to stick it to corporate greed and commissions. Sell outs. Another site needs to be created just like jaXed. Once that site gets a cease and desist, another jaXed start up should be created. And another, and another, and another, and another.......

I had no idea Craigslist was ever for sale or had been bought, especially by eBay. (Maybe it was a hostile take over!) Wow - I think they each have their own place and Mike and I haunt both regularly. Craigslist is way more unreliable, but most often items are close and can be had same day or almost that fast, the price is usually negotiable where at eBay... it's all a game and about the bidding. He who has deepest pockets wins (or sniping software!) But, I'm rambling on about what everyone already knows.

I'm still surprised that Craigslist is owned by eBay. So much for free enterprise. It seems like every large company is buying out/taking over the competition these days. Not good.

I'm sorry, but some of your beliefs in this matter are fundamentally incorrect. Craigslist is not "owned by eBay."

Craig Newmark, the owner, inventor & developer of Craigslist, had an outside investor / minority business partner in Craigslist when he started it in 1996. that minority partner position was purchased by eBay in 2004 in a private transaction. iirc, that original minority partner has never been publicly named or identified.

interestingly enough, there was litigation filed by eBay against Craigslist in 2008, and a countersuit against eBay by Craigslist. I'm unsure as to the outcome of those activities.

the owner of a web site does have rights to say how his site is to be used, or not. while this flies in the face of users who feel that someone else's work is somehow "theirs" to use as they please, the true owner is the only one who legally holds that position.

though local Craigslist sites are pervasive, one of Craig's original ideals was exactly that - that they would be local in nature, not national. and since he owns it, he has the right and the privilege to say so.

flame on if you must.....

You think that makes it more reasonable....understandable, yes. Reasonable from a consumers standpoint...hardly. Flame on I must.
