Does anyone know the Dupont paint number for the gray used on our coaches in the 80's?

I have a 82 310 MoHo

Thanks for any info.

Chris,

How about some pictures of your coach and the methods and materials you used in round tripping your windows?

Be glad to. Will get some photos and post them along with some things that I found out that has not been talked about here.

I have been using Cirtrs Strip (SP) from Lowes or Home Depot to take the brushed on flat black that a PO had put on the window frames! Not trying to take it all the way down to the alum. but, most of it is. I'm taking all of the clear coat off the alum., so don't have to worry about getting it on the skin. I will be using a alum. etching primer before putting on the color.

I have talked to our Dupont paint guy, and said they do not make the Centari paint any longer. There is still some of it out there, but he don't have it. He is trying to cross over the number now and will get back with me on it. Will post when I hear something.

Dupont number

I heard from my Dupont guy. He said that Dupont has it in the acrylic enamel. Said that I will need to use hardener and thiner with the product. The only diff. is that Dupont drops the -A for the paint number.
So the paint number is 44146 Metallic Grey.
I don't have to worry about matching, everything will be painted new that was painted. 25 years sitting outside has even taken its toll on the lower skirt of the coach as well.

Here is some photos of the window frame striped. Also the product that I have been using. My paint guy said to use a etching primer before applying the paint.

On another note, I have found a small drain on the inside track of the front windows. This would have been a great idea airstream came up with, but a bad install has made it useless! When they put the trim around the window, they drilled holes in the bottom of the channel, so if water gets in, it will just run out of the hole for the pop-rivet!
Here is a couple of pic's of that.

Chris,

Thanks for the pictures, it cleared up my thinking. I had thought that you were removing the windshields rather than the driver's/passenger's side sliding windows.

What did you use to remove the stripes? It seems like you can really hurt the baby if you do it wrong.

Steve

I use the Cistristrip. I don't worry about the clear coat on the alum., I want it off anyway for polishing.

Other than that a heat gun, and very easy with the plastic scraper. You realy find how soft the alum. is after working with it like I have been doing. After polished, you can rub your finger accross it and scratch the polish job!

Blue paint

Klaus, I have never seen a 1991 classic motorhome with blue paint. Most have maroon where yours has blue. Attached is a photo of my 1990.

Blue paint

Hello David,

Thank you for reply.
The blue paint is the factory one.
I will be honest to you. I like the crimson more.
But I can’t change cause of the colour of the
awning’s.
Regards Klaus
