Dash blower motor heat/air
I have a 1987 Air Stream 345. The in dash blower for the heat and air is worn out. I called Jackson center and they said that the motor in no longer available. Does anyone know of a replacement motor??????? I called Sonny and he doesn't have one either. We have tried every place around here but no help.

Hi James, just a thought, since this is built on a Chevy P-30 chassis, is it possible that the blower unit is a Chevy unit? Maybe call a Chevy dealer in your area that specialized in Heavy-Duty Chevy Trucks? You never know.....

The AC unit is probably an ACME unit. There are sources for parts if I'm not mistaken.
Check out the following thread for more info.

I'm betting you can find a blower that will work somewhere.
Good luck and keep us posted as to what you find.

You can also try Mill Supply. They have parts for panel vans. Most of that stuff is the same a our Chevy chassis.

Why ACME?
Does anyone know why Airstream used an ACME A/C versus just getting the chassis with a GM unit?

Acme made A/C Heater units for many of the motorhomes from the 1970's to early 1990's and price as well as universality was the key factor in using Acme as OEM for A/C units. Parts availability was good and with a little searching you can still get parts from NAPA and other aftermarket suppliesr.

My blower motor is squealing again. I tore into it and found tape on it with Nashua on it. When I went to their site I found Directauto.com. 1-800-6730 I haven't called yet but will in the next few day. All they seam to have is the motor with a shaft coming out of each side. Might be worth a try. Look under 1987 Chevrolet/suburban 3/4 ton I think it was $39.00.

As I Have mentioned in other posts, the BARTHMOBILE forums is a good alternate source for P30(or P32) chassis parts and info...wouldn't take much time to tie into them...nice folks, and they bailed us out of a10 day layover in Kingsland)Kingman?) AZ when all our other sources were scratching their heads...well, that's what I would like to think they were scratching... ...m

Just a footnote to my previous post. Heck, everyone knows that if Wylie Coyote uses Acme stuff to catch the Roadrunner, well then, Acme is surely good enough for a MoHo.

Uhm, Mike, I don't believe Wylie ever caught the Roadrunner...and the ACME stuff was forever failing him...or he was just misusing it...I could be wrong, but I don't think so...I loved those cartoons...ok, ok, I still do...m

Michael:
I'm glad to see that someone got my point about the Acme stuff. It didn't work that well when new was my point. My A/C Htr is an ARA, which is like the Acme and many of the parts are interchangeable too. Both were 18000 BTU coolers which was really just enough to cool the D & P area in a MOHO. I use the generator and the roof A/Cs to cool the Silver Hornet unless I am going directly into the sun, and then I use the dash air to stay cool. Going down the road with the generator running uses less fuel than the dash air too.
