Here are a couple more pics of the Q-jet rebuild The yellow arrow shows the fuel pick up still in place, the red arrow shows the fuel pickup that is missing. When this happens you loose the 4 barrel function. I glued it back in place with JB weld.

Here is the set up i have in mind for installing the new Carter fuel pump. I was getting ready to install it when I noticed that the fuel pump installation instructions said do not use thread sealant. I don't see how that would seal the tapered threads. The brass fittings I bought are just standard pipe fittings. Any recommendations on how to proceed?Click image for larger version

A little bit of oil might let you get it tight enough to seal. The tapered thread seal is actually metal on metal, the tape just helps lubricate so you get it tight enough to deform the metal into a good contact

There is also gasoline safe thread sealant. I thought the regular Teflon tape dissolved in gasoline and risked gumming things up

I was thinking that this might not be the best location for the fuel pump relay. I was trying to avoid compounding the wiring mess behind the dash but, when a guy with your credentials thinks it's a bad idea I will take notice. I will find a place the is better protected from the elements.

I bought the Mr Gasket fuel pump relay. I had second thoughts about installing it without an oil pressure sensor. So I bought the Holley oil pressure sender but , now I am unsure about how to wire it up. It would appear that the Holley sending unit has a relay built in. If that's the case I think I should wire it per the Holley diagram. Can someone who has done this project make a recommendation Click image for larger version
