Completely out of left field
A possible response . . . . .
You can borrow my Airstream only after you have been able to recite, with perfect accuracy, all of Nicky's dialogue from the Long, Long Trailer . . . . and your travel partner or spouse must be able to do the same with Staci's dialogue. . . . . from beginning to end . . .

Yeah, if any of my friends actually asked me, it would probably be because they didn't know how much it was actually worth or how much labor it required, etc.
I would respond with, "yeah, No."
And if they were persistent, I would just play it off with the insurance aspect.
I am a pretty generous guy to friends. For instance, I loan out my camping gear all the time because people know I have enough supplies for 10+ people. However, I never, ever, ever loan out my expensive backpacking gear. I'm sorry but if it is not treated right it will break, and they probably don't realize just how expensive backpacks and sleeping pads are when they weigh less than a pound.
Don't do it. For the sake of Airstreams everywhere, don't do it.

Time to start looking for new friends!
Asking to borrow one's RV, and especially one's Airstream is right up there with asking for one's firstborn!
I've never been asked, but I guess my response would be to say that everything's for SALE, and quote a price of twice the actual value - a ridiculous request to BORROW one's AS is worth an equally ridiculous ANSWER!
If that doesn't calm the waters, a suggestion to loan them your phone book to look up an RV rental outfit should get the message across...!

I had to wait to inherit my father's Airstream before I could "borrow" it!

I guess you could call it an "heirstream".
