Thank You guys, JRs RV in Findlay Did most of the work the fall before he retired and Moved to Florida.
You all well Know how it is when you get a coach and personalize it.
after a week or Two we realized, No front and rear furnaces.
No air-conditioning drain pans. all new tire to Mount.
etc.etc.etc, all new awnings. etc.etc.etc.
anyway
We love her and we use her well

on the 15th of Jan she goes to Bill Dodson <crestonrv@yahoo.com>; in Tenn For some work.

Never ending process.

The Boat is a bit to heavy for any hills at 7,500lb with out the trailer or 80 gal of fuel. I am just guessing but I think it probably weighs 10,000lb all up. I am re powering the rig with a 2006 duramax this winter before I tow the thing back up north

I redid the hitch this summer and was vary happy to read all the info on it here on the classics page and find out what people had to say about how things towed. I love this site and feel like there is an answer for just bout any question one could ask here!

That's a lot of boat to have tugging on your Airstream when lowering into the water!

Kinda reminds me of this poor fella whose brakes failed on the ramp.

Thank you for the Pictures, that is quite a Hitch.
We have a 2 inch hitch receiver on the front of our coach. great for a bicycle rack or a carrier.
But also great for launching Boats and such.

This is an interesting thread. I believe the initial post spoke of wanting to identify various features, specifications, options and such on our vintage motorhomes. Since I bought mine in November 08 the original owner has been more than helpful in bringing me any artifacts and the like pertaining to the coach. One thing I have and would be happy to share is the original 1987 Airstream factorh sales brochure including an insert detailing motorhome product specifications, features, options, and floorplans. I own a printing company and can readilly make copies for those who are interested. Kenneth

I did it. I have 9 airstreams one motorhome. I have polished 7 so far. I am addicted to airstreams. lol. It is very time consuming. I own a full service car wash detail shop and express lube. I have the perfect place to do it. I now have a guy full-time helping me. There is so very little maintenance just wash and that's it. I just mess around with it on free time. It is my out to de stress. If you ever wanted to know more about it I can share the process. I always recommend removing the clear coat if it's starting to break down. It's so easy and cheap to do and makes your airstream look great! So easy!

Great post idea...kudos to Keyair for starting it! I'll jump in.

I picked up Athena, a '82/'83 280 in very poor shape. She had been hacked into and modified all over. The front sofa was entirely missing. All the electronic controls for the door and step were gone. Most of the key systems were kaput. And someone had decided that red paint applied with a brush was the right way to refinish a bathroom. I'll start with the "before" pics just to shock you!

We laid in new Pergo floors, recovered all the walls, installed new memory foam sofabed (from Costco!), built a new bathroom vanity, resurfaced the shower, installed an instant on hot water heater, Xantrax sine wave inverter, group 8D batteries, battery meter, 660watts of solar, new aircon units...the list could go on practically forever. Not to include the major suspension and front end work we had to do.

Speaking of polishing: I was at a car show/cruise night and saw a Cobra, probably a replica but it did have an "antique" plate. Anyway the body was brushed aluminum with polished racing stripes...stunning!

Since it was a 280 that got me into this crazy Airstream bug that I am into I really enjoy this thread. Thanks to those who are keeping these super Motorhomes alive.
