Right Rear quarter panel and bumper?

Oops! Had a little fender bender.

I mashed in the bumper in the right rear side and crushed the right rear quarter panel. I thought I was in Park. I wasn't.

Does anyone have the parts? Or can someone reshape the bumper?

I know that Bkahler some time ago was parting out an old 345 which is what I have.

Thanks!

The bumpers are the same from the '77 Argosy thru into the Classics but how badly is the bumper bent? Unfortunately they are no longer available (went out of stock quite recently)

Equally the lower rear quarter (called a banana wrap) also is no longer availale.

And if you have crunched the actual aluminum panel you are probably looking at a much more significant repair (there are support channels running in that panel will probably also been bent.

If you take a look at the repair Ernie is doing to Peanut in the thread you will get an idea (http://www.airforums.com/forums/f310...on-148273.html)

I tweaked our rear bumper pretty well, snagged it on a post and bent an end out to about 90 degrees. A nephew who was in welding school was able to get it back in shape.

Yes it does say the part is out of stock, so contact them to find out when they will have new stock, also try Vintage Trailer supply and Inland RV, as they might have in stock.

As for the bumper I would take it off and give it a good aluminum body shop or a competent metal man should be able to heat and bend back to shape.

Cheers
Tony

Jenni, I agree with Tony. That bumper is definitely fixable.

If the lower plastic valance is all that you damaged then you're in better shape than I thought from your original description. Did you damage the aluminum corner at all or is it just the bumper and the plastic valance?

I don't have a replacement valance left from the 345. To bad it wasn't the left side that you damaged, I have one sitting here that Martin bought for Peanut that won't work due to the differences between the early Argosies and the later Classics.

How about posting some pictures showing the damaged area from the side?

Brad

There is a guy in Sacramento who can fix the plastic, I had him fix mine a few months ago and looked like new. You can even drive down the night before and he will start very early in the morning and be done by noon so you can drive home, depending on the amount of damage (hard to tell from these photos taken at night). Thanks Ryker. On one of our trips we may stop in Sac.
And thanks Isuzusweet. I'll check.

Bkahler, here are some more pics:

We're thinking we'll get into the storage area under the bed and see if we can knock out the dent from inside? Or try suction cups?

I took a number of pics of the plastic and bumper. There are a couple of shards inhand and the big piece. You can see the ragged edges where it tore off the bumper.

And of course, you can see the bumper is pushed in on that right edge.

thoughts?

Jenni,

The dent in the aluminum can definitely be fixed. However don't do anything to that dent until you've removed the rub rail. The rub rail is thicker and stiffer so any work you do on the dent is going to be resisted by the rub rail. So remove the rub rail and try using suction cups. Better yet, I'd suggest stopping by a body shop after you've removed the rub rail and ask them if they can try pulling the dent out. There is also a product called Super PDR that seems to work pretty well on dents. Martin bought a kit to use on Peanut and Ernie was able to get most of the dents looking pretty darn good.

Once the dent is straightened then straighten the rub rail and reinstall.

Salvage all of the plastic pieces for the valance and give them to whoever is going to do the repair work on the valance. If they piece it together properly it should be good enough to use.

Find a good fab shop and have them straighten the bumper.

Oh I'm so glad you caught us before we started to undent the dent. Will do! Thanks!

I think my my sweetie, Joe, may be joining the forum because he's now fully onboard with the motyho project. He's gotten in up to his eyeballs on some things already. Meaning he got water in his eyes when under the rear curbside bed trying to fix a leak.

Plenty for two to do around here!

Anybody have or know where to get the spotlight? I have the controls in my 1995 Classic 36 but the spotlight is gone with a cap over the hole on the roof.

Thanks, Paula & Ed! Funny, I spoke to Sunny in Arkansas, and he told me it is a boat spotlight but that is all the information that he had.
