Party of 3 now!

Took a drive up Piked Peak today. Last mile or so is still snowed in.

Thanks Dean, all good buddy. We are having a ball on the road. Its behind us, hopefully, I was very specific with the shop that they needed to make sure the parts were motorhome specific if it applied. This is our first 1000+ mile trip and its bern more fun than we even imagined. Golden CO was a blast parked with our nose facing a very popular white water creek.....got to watch lots of kayakers doing their thing, bike riding and walking along their path system, visited a couple museums, and lots of hang out time with my lovely and understanding wife. Shes a total trooper, no melt downs along the way....perfect! So all is well, got up to Cheyenne mountain this afternoon and met up with Dave from Boulder and Richard from Arizona/Hawaii....how cool is that!
Appreciate your kind thoughts. We were well taken care of, Im surprised a home made pie didnt show up at our door with all the kindness we were shown in Kansas.

Bob, I had been racking my brain for a couple days along your line of thinking on over tightening that ball joint......you may be right after all! I was thinking about the work I had had done in two different shops over the past two years, none of which was front end work...BUT! Big fat BUT...while having some motor work done back in about July of '13 I was settling up with the ownner and I now remember that he told me that his mechanic found a loose nut on one of the ball joints and tightened for me.....at the time I thought nothing of it really. I wasnt focused enough to ask which one it was (which I obviously should have). He was under there with his air gun doing the motor work and he very well could have slipped a socket on and ran that nut up too tight with the gun....I didnt even remember it until you had brought up that scenerio. ,not sure which one he tightened but it would sure jive with your thoery after all!

The weather turned this morning. Cold and rainy with snow forecast for the higher elevations. We decided to bug out early to make sure I could make a 04:00 report time for work on Tuesday morning. We had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone. Wish everyone could have come on Wednesday when we arrived. The weather was beautiful and the park was a little quieter before the weekenders showed up. Really want to thank Vycan for setting it up. We need to put more gatherings like this together.

Made it home through the nasty weather on the Palmer Divide. The coach enjoys running in cold weather as much as Kota.

Anyone game for a Classic Motorhome get together on the West Coast this fall? So cool seeing all those RVs in one spot.

Classic Motor home get together

We do a fall trip every year after the Wally World Warriors are back in school. We would be interested. Especially the northern west coast or mountains off 80. Not so interested in venturing through the big cities.

We had just a wonderful time with all you folks at the get together, great to meet you all in person. BEAUTIFUL rigs, incredible setting, great people. (All except the group of rug rat boy scouts who decided to use my 310 for a backstop.....I guess Ive turned into that grumpy old man, GET OFF MY LAWN!). Made it to Prairie Dog State Park KS last night. Looks like Ive got a small leak in that brake caliper on the side that had the Great Ball Joint Incident of 2015, doesnt look like the flex line is the culprit, something in the caliper. Brakes still feel good so Ill just keep an eye on the fluid till we get back to Champaign. Adios, Aloha (Richard), hope to see you all again down the road.

Thank you to Kota, Mayco, and Tevake for attending this event. While we were rained out on the last day, my family enjoyed meeting all of you. Attached are some of our pics to immortalize the event.

1. Catching Dinner after the last minute meeting delaying our departure 24hrs at the I-70 Diner.
2. DD in front of the Diner
3. The morning after arrival pictures of the Diesel Pushers
4. Morning after arrival pictures of the pullers
5. Near Panorama of our group site.
6. Far Panorama of the site.
7. The swag I assembled for the get together by writing to different companies. Tevake got both of the Camping world certificates as I had planned to give them out during the wine and cheese party that was rained out.

I would greatly enjoy camping with each of you again.

Quick recap for those who would like to live vicariously through us:

Everyone was supposed to arrive on 24APR15 get to know each other and discuss the next couple of days. Some arrived early, and most on time, but I was late due to a last minute meeting delaying our departure 24hours. On the way in I called Kota and asked him to requisition food for the morning breakfast as the group breakfast was something we were going to discuss on the 24th. He very graciously saved the day.

25APR15, started with everyone having the group breakfast, and then the scheduled Tesla museum. The reviews on yelp caused many to have concerns, but being stubborn and looking forward to it for months, we went anyway, and it was a great time. The kids got to play with the experiments, and giggle incessantly. When we got back I distributed the SWAG except the camping world certificates. Then we went to the Airplane Restaurant for dinner, and Kota joined us. We were supposed to have smores this evening, but by the time we finished dinner, everyone was exhausted and ready for bed.

26APR15 was a dreary day with lots of rain, and based on the forecast Kota and Mayco graciously departed. With good reason too! The forecast had snow! This also happened to be my favorite day... so as mentioned briefly by Mayco, a boy scout troop was camping the weekend we were there, and we say two boys staring at our coach. Didn't think anything of it at first, but the windows were open and we heard what they were saying. "She's really pretty" "Yeah, she is, I wish I had a girlfriend that looked like her." the two were commenting on Diesel Donna gracing the side of the motorhome. Too funny!

27APR15 spent the morning prepping for departure, and gave the camping world tickets to Tevake.

So... everything after the first day did not go as planned, but everyone seemed to have a good time until the weather, and they were such interesting people to talk to.

This was our first airstream event, and it was just right for us. No stress, a few people, and very personable.

The biggest lesson learned to improve the next one is reduce the number of activities in the schedule. One, maybe two events per day.

We did have a couple of those trailer guys show up but they had to park out back.

If there is a left coast meet maybe it will fit better in the schedule.

Please do it again in 2016, we just could not make this year work. I would love to meet other owners of these beautiful classics! Sometimes, we feel all alone in Illinois.

Cheers!

Hey Connie n Bruce, dont feel alone, we are right down I57. We took US 36 out to the get together, we wont travel west on the interstates again. It was such a beautiful drive, we had no idea that Kansas was such a beautiful state. Rolling hills and gorgeous vistas nearly the whole way. We dont have the 360 but love our 310!
