Do you have a recommended location for an April meetup?

Really don't. I'm sure there are but we always head up to the hills. Estes park might be an option in April. Colorado Springs probably has some amenities that would make the trek to Colorado worth while.

Or for something completely different: http://www.co.weld.co.us/Departments...eSitePark.html

Kota,

That is an awesome idea! I know I would enjoy that. However would need to see if they would do an exception to policy and open 5 weeks early. Definitely on Colorado destination spots now though. This and steamboat lake.

I'm wondering if we are going to be pushing the season a bit and getting into that part of the country a little early in the year? Once there I'm hoping to do some cruising around the area and check out some of the other areas of Colorado. And don't have a snow shovel.

Perhaps I should share a little personal context. I have lived in Hawaii most of my life ( wonderful tropical climate, but does make for becoming quite the weather whimp ). So last winter and again this winter I've been living in central Az. Trying to get toughened up a bit. But still recognize my limits. It's been into the twenties at night this week. BURRR!

Don't get me wrong, I'm into doing this get together for sure. Just want it to be fun, not a survival exercise :-)

These are three season Mohos after all.

Come on folks reassure me we woun't be building igloos to hang out in for our evening beverages.

Cheers Richard

April is a bit early for camping in the mountains. Anything above 10,000 feet will probably be still be snowed in. We are lucky that we can look at the weather and decide where to go the next day. The front range can be socked in with upslope on days it's beautiful in the mountains.

This was boulder in early Setp.

This was 30 miles and 6000 feet later.

Or it can be the other way around. April it early. May would be that golden window of nice weather before mom and dad take the kids to Wally World. Our best trips have been in April-May and sept-Oct.

Well... I'll tell you what... Kansas is beautiful in April There is this great campsite to the west of this google bookmark: Link

My all time favorite, and for those coming from the west you can hit the 'center of the united states' If you are coming from the east you can hit St Louis or Kansas City. Also it is nice and cheap per night :-D

I would like to do april as the latest because I have a job requirement making anything later impossible until camping season of 2016.

WXBouy... LOL!

I've been thinking about this for years but never get around to it. Watched a nova show on Nicolai Tesla the other night that reminded me. There is a Tesla museum and park in Colorado Springs. Aluminum foil hats might be appropriate!

Trailer group loves Topsail, even in Jan it could be colder than us Fl thinbloods could handle, Kansas is noted for tornadoes in spring, how about keeping it south, and satisfy all.

Classics should be extended to any MH by AS since our fg body has a basement and doors of aluminum. Age difference is getting smaller each year.

The fourth week of April anytime from the 23-28 for four days will work fine. My job has me out of the country from Mid May until an unknown date.

To put the Colorado in perspective, the risk of a snow event in late April is probably lower than spring weather events like rain, wind, and hail across the country. I would expect clear sunny days in the 70s and cool nights in the 50s. Even in the mountains, spring skiing usually features bikini clad babes bouncing down the hills. I lived in Steamboat for a few years and the "mud season" spring melt off was one of my favorite times featuring warm intensively sunny days melting the snow. The skiers were gone and the summer tourists are a month away.

Most weather systems are identifiable and predictable days out unlike summer thunderstorms across the country. Camping is wide open. We just check the forecast and decide what direction to go. The only time we've gotten stuck in the snow was a late April drive across southern Minnesota two years ago.
