Here is a 325. For sale in So Cal, for what may be an all time high asking price.
Does have an extensive interior redo. New engine etc.

They did a headliner over the front interior end cap....I would choose a different finish but that's an idea that I'd been kicking around for those who's end caps are in poor condition. I think it's could be very nice with the right material.

Trying to convince the Canadian border service that the twin .50 cals in the ball turret on top are for "hunting" could deem you inadmissible into Canada; just saying.

As for price...it's worth it to the present owners.

Cheers
Tony

Having worked in the home decorating field for 40 years, I learned that 1 persons dream may be the next persons nightmare. The same principle may apply to refurnishing Motorhomes. Give me good bones and solid mechanics, the rest is "foofoo"

I like it! The price can get bent... but she's neat to look at.

Typo?

Maybe they mean $25,000? Not $225,000? I mean, I know that values for our Airstream Classic motorhomes are increasing, but seriously, more than double what it retailed for? Just my .02

The owners certainly indulged their style sense. Think of what Peter said.
A lot can be spent getting it " just right"
When the next owner is thinking tear it out and start over.

All of the quilted interior details remind me of the under hood pad in a vintage Ferrari. The sellers may think that style elevates it into the collector market.

I haven't seen the acclaimed movie La La Land. But this listing seems to come from some where near there.
Or they may be thinking of attracting the conspicuous spenders of the Barret Jackson stripe.
I try not to ridicule folks, but this extremely speculative pricing does open door.

At any rate, I did think you guys would find it entertaining.

Cheers Richard

I'm with you Mayco. I toyed with the idea of doing something like that myself. I was thinking about using naugahyde in a pattern that resembled the exterior segments on the rear end cap. Looks like it would get tricky at the visor area. In the end I got mine to look 'presentable' and moved on to more pressing matters. I would still like to pursue the idea. If you decide to try something along these lines , please share with the rest of us.

I actually like the interior, and it is cool and interesting. I just think its a little over the top... just a little too much on the quilting.
The quilting is supposed to emulate period bomber interior insulation.

Mike,
I tried using Home depot grade Weldwood and a commercial vinyl wallcovering. It looked beautiful ...until the summer came around. The contact cement is not rated for 120-130 degrees and the vinyl started to shrink. I ended up having to remove it, and then painted the front cap. If i would do it again, I would use the commercial grade Weldwood in the picture and the Landau top foam material that is used in many cars now. I think with a few slices it would confirm nicely to even the most difficult areas.

Ha, I even found the pictures from 2002, when I first did the green vinyl (the pictures with the three stars) that looked like leather and after that failed, I painted the front cap this metallic modeled finish, which held up for 10 years plus

Nice work Peter....I've been wondering what to do with both end caps and what to use........I do have a lot of the naugahyde I used elsewhere but decided not to use on the couches; painting would be a whole lot easier. Spring project maybe.

I also concur with your assessment on people's decorative decisions, as what I have done to my AS is not to others tastes. It may work for me but others have a right to disagree, if or when I decide to sell.

Just curious Peter about your fan placement as it's a lot further forward than my 310; almost exactly where my front A/C is.

Cheers
Tony

Peter, for some reason I'm thinking that the newer Airstream's have some sort of material covering the caps. If that's true what do you suppose the material is and how would it be fastened?

Yes, Brad, starting around 1994, Airstream used a white vinyl padded with a thin layer of foam on the end caps and the entire ceiling fastened with some contact cement. I have seen it fail, especially in vehicles or trailers kept in the south.
Having no clue on what type of contact cement Airstream used, either the lesser heat tolerant adhesive or poor application techniques could be blamed for the failure.
On the other hand, many are still completely intact, like the entire ceiling and endcaps in my 1997 30' Excella.

I thought they used Ozite on some. My 91 250 has an Ozite ceiling and wall covering, but ends are in the oak to match the locker units. Only some coaches seemed to come with Ozite (I've seen 250s without it) so guess it was an option

in the 90's trailers they used the Ozite (also referred to as Mouse fur) on lot of the wallsurfaces. Never seen it used on endcaps, perhaps because of its corduroy (stripe) pattern.
