Well, here's the way Paul Gauguin and I would look at it
It really doesn't look that far, and there's a good place to stop about half way .........

I've been lucky! Drove both home without incident. Inspection, test drive, fuel, and petal to the metal. One Seattle to Boulder and one from 150 miles south.
I guess people just want to be rid of their problems. I'll be selling one soon and it will be ready to roll. I'll have it plugged in to water electric and sewer. Ready to verify everything works and is road worthy. Ready to camp!

Yeah, but you are the exception thats why you can ask a premium. Most Motorhomes I looked at or bought had a lot of serious problems. I certainly don't sell them that way.

Oh, it was a long list. Apparently it was in great shape 5 years ago, then he parked it. As we all know, that's when they start rotting. Air bag suspension, alternator, tires, electrical issues, water system, batteries, and more. Now doing brake work, and Peter pointed out fuel lines, which I'm sure are a good idea.
I got it for a song, and I can do a lot of work myself but not when it's so far away. My fault but eventually it will be nice again. It does have good bones. And yes, I am excited, and it will be fun to cut my teeth on this one. Sorry to hijack this threat, I know it's for new MoHos for sale.

It's nice to hear of another one with the prospect of redemption.
You may have got it for a song, but you'll still be paying the piper for a while yet! There is no such thing as a cheap Airstream, so it's lucky that they are that extra bit special.

I just got a call that the front brakes, brake lines, bearings, etc., all need to be replaced before I drive it home. Another $1,700.
I bought this but then started looking at the 36's. That '95 sold in eBay for $24,500. That seems like a good price, and I almost bid on it. What do you guys think? I would really like a 36 diesel pusher but with only 26 or so out there, seems I may wait a long time to come across one of those at any sort of a decent price.

Since you ask....... I think a 345 is at least as good as a 36'.... within a few inches lengthwise, and personally I like the 345 interior better. I would persist with the one you have bought...... but I wonder if you have gotten yourself into the hands of someone who might be viewing you as a milk cow. You need to find a mechanic who will tell you...."Sure, we'll patch this together for you so you can drive it home. You can make it perfect when you get it down there." Get a second opinion, then a third. Go up there and take care of this personally and not over the phone.
Well, you did ask for an opinion!

Ryker, you may want to start your own thread for your 89, so we don't clutter this one up.
I really do have an opinion about that 1700 estimate for the front brakes: Highway robbery....200 in parts and 1500 labor, no way

Who the hell is e***i 102, back away from my doghouse slowly and no one gets hurt.
Cheers
