Have been preoccupied prepping my current "sticks and bricks" home for sale as well as buying a newer home about 20+ miles outside Memphis. Have contract on our home and today completed purchase of the new home. Much to do to get ready for the move as well as prep "Penny" for our first Rally in Louisiana in May.

Definitely glad to be back...

You should run a air stream moho finding business! How are you with locating parts? LOL!

Where are the 310's

It seems to me, and i may very well be wrong, but there are fewer 310's on the market than any other model on a consistent basis. Por que? Are there just fewer of that model? Are they less desirable than other models? Or are they more desirable and people tend to hold on to them? Or is it mere coincidence? I try to keep an eye out for them just to see what they are selling for and what may be the market value of my 310, no intention of selling for sure but just curious. The obsession is getting out of control i suppose.

Years ago i wrote Airstream to ask how many of the 310's they made, they had no clue, suffice to say not many, especially the diesels. I know the last year was '84. Over the last 20 years, I've seen a couple, both parked behind barns with blown 454 gassers. We sure love ours!

This is my take on this subject.

There are quite a few 280's, 300's and 310's out there, but I'm sure that many people do tend to hang on to them. The downside of a tag axle with the corresponding weight increase of axle, brakes, shocks, rims, tires and bodywork plus cabinetry, all for a minimal length increase of 1.5'-3.5' on the very same power train, is to some a deal breaker. I couldn't imagine trying to motivate a 325 or 345 tag with my 5.8L Isuzu diesel.

The extra brakes on the tag are good to have IF they are working correctly. If they have been disconnected or seized then that added weight (2500+lbs) has to be stopped by the very same brakes I have. I know of someone with a 325 TD that found the lack of power and braking (a PO disconnected the brakes on the tag) to be right scary. He can't climb any sort of hill without losing speed.

I did look at a 345 but found my 310 to be the exact length I needed, not wanted, and have not regretted my purchase (even with all the work that I have done). While the tag does increase your GVWR rating, 16,500 lbs from 14,500 lbs, I'm sure that's eaten up by all the extra weight of the tag and bodywork.

Be happy with your 310. I have no twofootitiss issues with mine.

Also there are more than a few parks up here where the max length is 27' and getting a 31' in is a very tight prospect in deed.

Cheers
Tony

PS Went to Waterloo Ontario yesterday through Maryhill, just outside Guelph, and saw a very nice 345 from a distance. I will have to investigate another day.

The 310 is the perfect size for my wife and i. The extra maintenance costs of the tag would be a deal killer for us.

Not a bad price,Check the pockets for another $10,000 + to bring it back to roadworthy conditions. We got rid of our 280 ASAP because of the limited space in the stern.

Looks like an Airstream.
But it's a 74, so it must be an Argosy?

Airstream or Argosy - You gotta check this one out, it's really cool.
