I have been looking for a motorhome for a friend...I called this guy up and asked him about this rv. I told him the Ford 7.3 went into production in 1988 with a C6 trans, not Allison. I could be wrong on the specs, but not as wrong as this (really nice) guy...

The Portland 310 ad has been changed yet again. It is back to being a 7.3 Ford diesel, with pictures to prove the point. There must be an interesting transplant story somewhere about the drivetrain.

You got that right... I'd love to know the history behind that operation. I smell a wrecked truck with a donor engine somewhere. Awesome engine and block, but the non-turbo models were pretty sick. I had one in an 80's F-250. Run forever, but wherever that truck is I'm sure it still has my toenails in the floorboard.

Diesel engine+Gas generator=transplant(most likely the engine)

My mistake, read as a gasoline genset with diesel. Yes, propane was the normal.

The 300le is really one of the best Classic Airstreams available perfect size, no tag axle so good on small back roads. Mine has a walk around queen in the back...just love it!

I called and talked to the guy he said everything worked and was ready to go except gen.so I packed up and drove down there the motorhome had been setting for 8 years then 2 years it was brought back to life and then sat for another 2 .. I really wanted to buy it but i didnt trust the guy selling it and i wasnt going to trust it to drive 700 miles.. but maybe sombody else will want it

Here's a link to the Huntsville 310:

1984 AirStream Limited - REDUCED

I imagine that the coach batteries were dead after sitting, so not much inside would work until it was plugged into AC or the batteries had time to charge off of the engine.

we had it running and plugged in the only thing we could get power to was the windshield wipers and a few interior lights gas tank smelled like old gas , i really wanted to purchase it but the wife said no .Its a diamond in the ruff I am already regretting not buying it . But as soon as i told the guy no He got really crappy with me said it he had it sold the next day if i didnt want it and he walked off cussing and yelling kind of creeped me out . I just couldnt trust driving it 700 miles , the ball joints were creaking and the fan belt sqealing , he said the alt belt squeals cuz of the power needed to run the motorhome . maybe someone else can get a chance to buy it .. but if he would have prepared the motorhome better he might have had a sale . I had been talking to the guy for about a week and he kept teling me evrything worked which wasnt true I drove along way for that rv and to be let down like that was depressing . so i settled for newer one ,94 ly 33ft evrything worked and the guy was knowledgable

Just a quick hello there bertha94. You are the closest forum poster yet since i started using this wonderful airforums site. I bought my 83 turbo diesel last summer and have been able to learn soooooo much from the nice folks here on the forum. Nice to hear from a fellow streamer so close to us here in champaign. Have relatives over your way and always fly out of BMI. Congrats on your purchase!!

Unhappy 1989 370

Here is one for you Ford fans. We went to look at this, but did not make a deal on it. The listing is all off, and yes I saw the title and it is listed as a 1987 Geling. Had to be one of the first ones built. The AS s/n says its an 1988.

1987 Airstream rv

This is really, really, really rough! Here is a list:
Levers tore up
leaking exhaust, missing motor (does have headers) Ford 460
SMOKERS!
Inserted a household refrigerator (tore up the opening doing it)
Both roof air units, tost
Does have a Gear Vendor, do not know it works, did not drive it
Electric step does not work
All upholstery needs replaced as well as carpet
Entry door is messed up and does not close
Most of the outside compartment doors, locks tore out, and strapped closed
Broken curb window in back.
Window in living area messed up from owner trying to install window air unit
Tires dated way out
Compressor did not turn off, must have a major leak
Skin creased in top back, side and hail damage
Looks like heaters shot
It did go in drive and reverse, but did not drive
Alaco wheels
Banana rap in back broken up
All vents on top broken up and leaking (might as well say not there)
There is more, I'm sure, but burned out on it.

Owner thinks it a great unit :O
My wife told me not to post this on here, but know with the limited run with the 370 units, someone might want to take it on!
Owner will negotiate on price. I'm a gearhead, and my opinion, would not try to run it down the road. Her grandson said he used it last year to run down to Bowling Green for the Harley drags. Owner said when they got back, door did not work, if that gives you any ideas of the care of this unit.

DID I SAY IT IS REALLY, REALLY, REALLY ROUGH :O
You better be ready to do a lot of work on this unit!

please, please, please come to the rally in northern Illinois, I am dying to get inside one of these motorhomes, my wife keeps saying NO keep our trailer, LOL. Kidding aside, we have a great informal rally coming up in May about 20 minutes west of Rockford on I20. Most of us make our way to Moraine View in June as well. It is a pretty diverse crowd from our 4 year old son to retirees. Check it out.

BTW that 37 can't be that rough...can it? Maybe they can knock the price down a few grand, someone can fix it. Good Luck!

Yes it is that bad!
They came down to $5500 before we even looked at the unit. That should have given me a clue!

Also forgot to mention, Salvage Title, and altho the Generator is there, would not run or even try!

That is Levelers not levers, sorry me bad!!!
