Can't find the VIN number plate. 1977 ARGOSY MH

Searching the forum I found out that there
are supposed to be two separate number plates
on my ARGOSY MH

One is the chassis # , which I did find
on the vertical post in the engine compartment
right under the front screen:
CPY43773314920

There's supposed to be a second one stating
the VIN-number as stated in the Title / registration:
M28T7V5572
( which BTW means it a Motorhome/28 feet...something...
build at the Versailles factory...)

Where will I find this ???

Strangely it does say VIN on the plate I found (?)

I need to find it urgently as I'll have to show
it at the Motor Vehicle office in order to register it.

Thanks !

OK, so I looked in the manual ( didn't have it with me when I posted the previous post )

Is states:

"A vehicle identification number is stamped
on a combination vehicle identification number
and rating plate located on the dash and toe panel

The Service Parts Identification Plate
is located on the forward Service Door Area.
The plate lists the V.I.N......."

I'll get over to the garage and look again.
Still confused as to what number is what number
and why my Title states the M28T7V5572 number as being the VIN
and the plate I found state the other number as being the VIN

Motor homes have 2 serial numbers.

The first one is the chassis number.

The second one is the M28 number you posted.

That serial number plate is on the radiator pillar, thats on the left as you face the radiator from the outside.

BUMMER !
Caught in red tape.

The MVD just wouldn't accept the VIN number M28T7V5572
as it is stated in both the( Illinois ) title from the previous owner and
the ( Illinois ) title from the previous-previous owner
( I have a copy of that )
simply on the grounds that it should be a 'regular'
VIN ( with that long number of digits used today )
The rather impolite lady at the MVD required us to visit the State Police (!)
who wold have to make inquiries to Illinois and
run some checks.
We still don't know yet if we can make an appointment with them
within the next couple of days. They apparently are hard to reach.

This is REALLY strange as we have been told that such an old
vehicle does NOT require a 'modern' VIN
and indeed checking the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
( who implemented the rule ) website, CLICK
it is clearly stated that the 'modern' VIN wasn't required till 1981
and my ARGOSY is from 1977

Huh !?
