Broken exterior door pull

The little black exterior door pull on our 1992 250 Motorhome just broke. Is there a way to replace it and how? Is there a way that we can open the door without climbing in

Thanks
Sonia

That sucks...
Can you post a pic of it so that people here can ID the part and advise?

Awesome!
I know that is not like mine, but I bet there are people who know what that is, and if it is still available, and if not, what the best replacement is..

Is that the entry door handle/latch?

I've not seen one like that before.

Definitely Inland RV., looks like a Ford van side door handle (sliding door), c/s. If that is the case, try a Ford dealer or LMC truck parts.

Broken exterior door pull

How do I open the door? Any suggestions? Other than climbing in from a window? (Would hate to do that)

I just did a google search for ford van handle and didn't come up with anything that looked close to the one in Sonia's picture. I then tried dodge and chevy with similar null results.

I think until we can identify the brand/make of the handle it would be hard to tell you how to get around the broken lock.

Can you describe how it broke or exactly what it's doing now?

This is the closest 'look alike' I can find

NEW RV/MOTORHOME BLACK DOOR HANDLE WITH 2 POINT LATCHING MECHANISM 5 1/8 X 2 7/8 RV Exterior

It appears to be a generic RV part.

TriMark RV Door Lock 13438-04, Black

It's hard to tell if this is the same as the one Martin posted. Could just be the angle in which the pictures were taken. Either way I think one or both of these is a match.

Sonya, sorry sweetheart but I think climbing in will be your only solution, HOWEVER pay a kid a couple of bucks and they'll think it's a lark to do it. It's the only reason I keep my rug rats around.

Martin/Brad, you're both "the man" for finding what looks to me a dead nuts ringer of a replacement. I've heard of holding up your cell phone to your radio to tell you what tune is playing but this is taking it to a new level. I've never seen this lock used before, definitely not the same quality of the Keeler but certainly easier to replace.

Bravo
Tony

If the latch is the same as the one we found, it appears locking the key barrel just stops the handle being lifted. So if the locking mechanism is broken you should be able to drill that out and then you will be able to lift the handle.

However if you look at how the latch mechanism works (in the additional photos on Brad's link), pulling the handle, causes the lower protrusion on the reverse of the handle casting to push and turn the latching mechanism. Basically if the handle is broken you maybe able to duplicate what the lower protrusion on the handle casting is doing and push/turn the latching mechanism by inserting a screwdriver to push the mechanism.
