Blinker problems towing a jeep

I am trying to tow a 1995 Jeep Wrangler behind my 345 and am having a devil of a time with the blinkers. I have verified that plug on the MH is correct and the wiring I tapped into at the back of the Jeep is correct. When all is plugged in the tail lights work, the brake lights work, but when either left or right blinker is engaged on the Mh, the brake lights on MH and Jeep on left and right sides blikk dimly but like flashers. Any ideas?

You probably need to install a set of diodes on the Jeep wiring to prevent back feed to the rest of the lighting system.

Be aware that the maximum allowable tow weight for the 345 is only 2,000lbs. There are many factors that limit the weight to such a low value - not the least is the huge moment arm between the drive axles and the hitch. No amount of beefing up the hitch will increase the max tow weight engineered by Airstream for the certification of the 345.

Also, since your Jeep is probably pushing 3,200lbs, many states (and all of Canada) require brake activation on anything over around 2,000lbs.

Hi, I'm not sure exactly what you are saying, but the way I hear it, you need to replace your flasher unit to a truck or electronic type. Your flasher is too weak to handle the extra Jeep bulbs, so it flashes too fast.
Or make sure that the turn switch lever and the hazard light switch is in the off/neutral position. [on your Jeep]
Or diodes like previous poster suggested.

Thanks for the help. Late last night I found where the rear part of the wiring harness on the jeep plugs in. (to the right side of the emergency brake bracket) I unplugged it and everything is fine. I do have a brake unit which sets in the floor board and plugs into the cigarette lighter. It has a bracket which attaches to the brake pedal, and you can adjust the sensitivity according to what kind of vehicle you have. Will that do?
