Alcoa Aluminum Wheels 19.5 X 6

I have started looking for the Alcoa aluminum rims and accessories for my 1983 310. I have read several post and have seen part numbers for front and rear wheels. 761002 Rear, 761001 front. Is their two different rims for the P30 chassis. I know this is going to be a long process for locating wheels so I wanted the facts on what I need. Thanks Jim

There is also a 761003, the difference is that the 001 is polished on the outside, the 002 is polished on the inside and the 003 is polished on both sides. Let me know what you find cause I am still looking for 3 more for my 325LE. Regards, Bob

Always coming up for sale; just one little problem; they tend to be attached to an Airstream motorhome. Not to say you couldn't buy the motorhome; attach said alloys to yours; attach steel wheels with nice simulators to the motorhome you bought, and flip it for a grand more. It would get you a set faster.

Just one thing to watch for.......cracks, especially between bolt holes; you take a chance buying sight unseen.

If you can swing it, buy a 325 or 345 and that will give you two spare. Pity you didn't have $2,500.00 a couple of weeks ago; the perfect 325 was all there.

I now understand how hard it is to find these aluminum wheels for our motorhomes have had no luck in any shape form or fashion. I have looked at pics of your motorhomes and I assume the front wheels are 5 lug and the rear 10 lug???. I have simulators on right now and don't dare to take them off because I lose things when I have no reason to take things off. Please let me know if I am right. Thanks Jim

All wheels are 10 hole (Alcoa) for our application, 370LE, 360DP and possibly some others are 6, but all Chevy P30, P32 chassis are 10, the front hub cap hides the 5 that are not used, Regards, Bob

Bob, Thanks for the clarification, was a little confused looking at pics of 310's and others on the site and internet some showed 5 lugs on front 10 lug on back and my simulators were all 10 lug. Just another day in the Airstream world. Now I can look for the correct rims. Will let you know if I find any. Jim

So it appears that Alcoa are thicker and and the lug nut lies on top of the rim vs steel that is beveled . So plan on changing out your lug bolts front and rear . I'm dealing with 19.5 . Don't know about 16". Any body know the exact length needed or used on these hubs and rotors 28 Excella 1979?

I changed from steel to aluminum and the original studs are long enough, barely. You still use a steel wheel for the inner dual. This is the lug nut. https://www.southwestwheel.com/p-1805-39946.aspx

Thxs, Yes those are the lug nuts I have .. Just looking a little ify with seeing the inside nut threads instead of the bolt threads. Would you have any pictures of the nuts on the rim ?

They look pretty rusty...I would recommend removing and never-sneezing them, and a good polish job on the rims and caps.....just saying, Regards, Bob

You are quite right! That one goes on my todo list at position 563.


My thought on lug nuts is that you don't want them to be lubricated.
That might encourage them to work their way off. Does that make
sense?

Thank you so much for those photo's. Your photo of the front shows one bolt thread past the nut and your rear shows two bolt threads. Where as mine show's one inside nut thread...or top of the stud flush with nut. I have tried to locate longer studs but then the knurl size changes ....Any suggestions

Grease actually helps get the nut on tighter, reducing likelihood of it coming off. I wouldn't grease shiny new studs and nuts unless the manual says to, might make it prone to over tightening, but if there's any corrosion it's not a bad idea. Bottom line, it won't come flying off

I've been watching the west coast for these for a couple of years now, for Bob and others...
The come up now and again...

A pair came up, and were advertised for $150, and he stated they were unpolished, but he had a pair of polished wheels he was keeping...

I was on it, called the guy, agreed the price of $150 and was all set for the 5 hour round trip to pick them up...
Then the guy went silent on me.
Turns out that despite the texts and talking on the phone where I said, "So, we are in agreement, $75 each, $150 for the pair", he heard $150 each.

At least I didn't waste a day going to get them....

Received a email today from a individual that has 4 10 lug aluminum bud wheels off of a motorhome, my question is are the 761001, 761002 and 761003 the only ones that fit the P30 chassis. I asked him if they were Alcoa and 6" wide, waiting on response. Will a wider rim work on the tandems. He is asking 800.00 which seems a little high BUT they are hard to find. These sizes are out of my knowledge level so any help will be appreciated.

I believe it's the same wheel. The last digit describes the finish, mill, polished and 1 or 2 sides.
