I have to check the forum, but once I have the TW final polish done I am planning on clear-coating so I won't have to polish.

This is a Comparision of Gauges list I took from one of my metalworking handbooks. Notice different thicknesses for different standards. Hope this helps

Thanks again Aaron and Kip. I wanted to know for the purpose of buying a cutting shear. I am not sure if it will be electric or air powered, but am leaning toward electric. I think that would be a bit more versatile.

It can be done!
Have started to polish our 82 310. It can be done just a lot of work! I have taken the Airstream off the hood after the pic. I have polished and painted them as well.
Just lots of compound and time!

mmmmmmmmmm very nice indeed. Have you considered painting your reservoirs black? I like to make them disappear behind the grill.... total effect is nice so that it doesn't take away from the beauty of the final job. Nice work.

I tried hard to get my grill to shine. It never quite got there all the way. I ended up painting the inset part black instead of gray which made the face look shinier by contrast.

Thanks!
Many more hours left on the buffer.
Yes, I will have everything behind flat black when I have the grill off to paint. Just trying to get everything replaced and in place before I do it!

I've been looking at my grill and wondering how well it would buff out. It was lot's easier to paint those reservoirs when the grill was out.
Will we see your work in Hiawassee in April?

Have not thought about Hiawassee yet. Will take a look at it and see what we can do.
I have buffed on some of the grill, but I think that it would work better with a stand buffer. Or maybe try a very course compound to start with!? Around the lights can be a problem, I don't think I want to tackle taking off the housings!
