Good humor here and I get the "toung in cheek" attitude. However as someone who is seriously considering a new Bambi Sport 16, I am surprised and very worried that leaks seem to be so common that they are a subject of jokes. Is this really the case with these trailers. Reading this forum is cause to reconsider our decision. Any thoughts for my wife and I?

Thanks

I haven't received a return call from the factory yet on my lifetime leak warranty. I guess I'll have to wait til after the holidays now.

We had one heck of another storm here in California last night. Rained or should say down poured for 6 hours straight. Dash was dry but stove top was wet. Water dripped out of the light over the stove. I think it is from the A/C "drip pan" that's cracked.

When the call comes in from the factory, I'll also ask if new Airstream trailers leak or if it is just these 30+ year old Classics with over 100,000 road miles on them! Wink wink!

I too was considering buying a new AS back in 06. I ended up buying a vintage Airstream. For me this was a great choice. My 66 Caravel has now double in value than what I paid for it. I could not have said that about the new 25 foot AS I was looking at buying. I also have read of all the problem people have had with leaks and floor rot on there 06-07. I just think how sick I would be if that would have happen to my $50,000 trailer I almost bought.

Hey D, all RV's leak. Just the way it is. They all require lots of maintenance. But my 'Stream is 42 years old, with a major rebuild, of course. And it's cool, to me at least. I'll keep fixin' it and enjoying it, warts and all.

Jim

Buy with confidence that one day you will find the seldom used, but often maligned secondary fresh water system that is installed into every Airstream, with the same care and attention to detail the rest of the trailer/motorhome is crafted too.
The most pressing concern you should have with the Bambi and water, is getting wet having to get out of the trailer just to change your mind.

Cheers
Tony

Mine's leaking like h*ll...pouring in rivets down the wall..............
the window is missing! (See Welcome to Breakfast Show for the whole sordid story).

In all seriousness, that window (before it was blown out in the storm) did a darn good job at keeping that part of the trailer water tight.

Matter of fact, after enduring (and fixing) two leaks the first year, my trailer has been dry as a bone since. I live on the outskirts of Vancouver - one of the wettest climates in North America. This is the proving ground for RV leaks. So, I am pretty happy with my trailer. (And yes, I am always checking for moisture in crucial areas etc.)
