Airstream 290 airbags

Hello guys!

I have a 290 motorhome and the airbags are not inflating. At first, I thought the compressor had quit working, so I filled the tank manually and the motorhome lifted up to normal height. After about 3 months, I guess the air leaked out and the bags deflated. I filled the tank again to 100 lbs but this time they did not inflate. After looking at the schematic, the only thing between the air tank and the airbags are leveling valves, so I'm assuming they are they problem, however, its odd that they would both fail at the same time. Now I can't find the leveling valves, does anyone know where they are located? I would assume below the floor but I can't find them unless they are mounted inside the frame somewhere. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Not 100% sure as things did change model year to year, but the air levelling valve should be mounted on the axle like my 310's. Look for the air lines going into and out of it. A long rod will also be attached to it, sort of the same thing as in a toilet, but without the bulb at the end of the rod.

Your 290 should just have one valve.

Your air system is super tight if it takes three months to deflate.

Thanks Tony! The schematic shows an air line going to each bag with a valve inline. I will take a closer look, but it seems like i covered every square inch. I'll let you know if i find it.

I cannot say for sure your set up but the earlier coaches used an ACE system like this. http://superide1.com/Installation/800/8700-046.pdf In the lower left picture labeled "Front View" the leveling valve is shown in the middle between the air bags. It is mounted to the coach frame and the small rod connects the lever arm to the lower cross member under the air bags. It basically measures the distance between the frame and axle and keeps the distance constant by varying air pressure in the bags to match the load. By the way on my coach the valve is mounted much higher near the floor of the coach with a longer connecting rod. It makes it much more fun to access.
