'96 airstream classic 36’

Hi Folks,
I have not contributed in a while. My wife and I bought the (according to the previous owner) the last aluminum airstream to come off the line. In spectacular shape.
We bought it back in June.
Kids moved out in August. Sold the house in October and we are on the road.
Of course things start to pop up.
One thing is the headlamp shell. The dual headlamp shell looks like it had a bulb burst in it and it is black on the inside. Light still works but look like crap. We drove from Calgary to Phoenix and are here for 2 weeks but cannot find one anywhere. Any ideas?

Your headlights were more than likely stock units from a Ford, Chrysler, or GM product of that era. The problem is identifying what vehicle it came from. Airstream may tell you or sell you one at a nice profit. If you can remove it and find any numbers or symbols it may help identifying it or maybe a large body shop might be able to look at it and recognize what it fits.

Good luck, Dan

Lights

I called Airstream today and they graciously gave me the GM part number that is current. I sourced one on Ebay for 69$. GM wanted $465 and Airstream $800. So I do not have the part in my hand yet but getting close. Thanks for all your help. I am going to start a new thread on my TV.

Peter

If memory serves, I think headlamp units in 94 thru 96 Airstream Classics are from Chevy pickups. Believe same units are used in Legacy and other fiberglass Airstreams from those years.

GM Part number

This is the number that Airstream gave me for the corresponding GM Headlamp for my 96 airstream.
GM Part number 16513212. Which replaced another number which I cannot find now. Airstream said they just ordered this part from a local Chevy dealer when they needed one.
Hope that helps.

PS. I will try and send a picture. Have not had much luck doing that. And I am an IT guy!
