Doesn't look like I'm going to make the April 7th trip but I'm close.
Don't know about California, but in Washington and Oregon, you can get a temp trip permit with very little information. They don't even ask if the thing you're taping it to has wheels.
Here's a picture of the letter I'll be taking to DMV with me on my second attempt. Won't happen this week since I'm out of town for work but fingers crossed for next week.
When I spoke to the customer service rep at Airstream he knew exactly what I was talking about and said this was a common request, he has a template ready and just plugs in your coaches info. Emailed the letter back the same day. If you call be sure you have both the Chasis Vin and the Airstream Vin. They will decode the Airstream Vin for you while you're on the phone as well.
In the meantime I'm pulling the Diesel Injector Pump and sending it off to a Diesel Shop for inspection and to have an oil seal replaced. I have a pretty bad leak from the seal between the Automatic Timer and Injector Pump 😢

While I wait on the Injector Pump I'm replacing the Driver and Passenger seats. I was able to find these two beauties at a conversion van dealership in the Bay Area. I will eventually reupholster he bench seat and two guest chairs to match this color scheme.

Yowzers! First class seating on all of your trips.
Can't wait until you post a trip thread.
Cheers
Tony
