A big +1 on the RainX; the next best thing to a blown air system. I even use the rainX windshield washer fluid and give it a squirt just as the rain hits.

Get a bumper sticker on the back bumper that reads "I'll take the second on those who cut in front of me".

Keep your distance and take your time.

Cheers
Tony

So day 2 is coming to a close....very nice here at Virginia Highland Haven Airstream Park. I cleaned and replaced all of the rear exterior running lights and back uo lights including the license plate light....the lenses were so dirty on the inside that it looked like the bulbs were almost not lite. I also skimmed through both the Airstream manual as well as the Gillig chassis manual as the Gillig is quite different than the P-30 or P-32. While Debbie and I were resting we heard a very loud bang ....seemed like something hit the motor home....went outside and found nothing.....AHHHH but later I noticed the 21 foot road side window awning was flapping around AH HA...I found out that the spring inside the awning tube broke....GREAT!!!! now I have to figure how to roll it up and fasten it so it won"t open while we are driving tomorrow. I sent an E-Mail to Zip-Dee so I can order the parts....but no help for me today, will have to repair at home. Also finished sanitizing the three tanks today, Will post pictures of the campground later tonight. Regards, Bob

Day 3 has come to a nice close....we left Virginia Highland Haven and traveled to Winchester, VA. To pick up the kids. We are now in Gettysburg, PA at Artilery Ridge campground for the night. Hopefully onto Hawley, PA. For tomorrow night. The 370 was great today with temps in the mid 90's. A re-core of the radiator will happen during the winters 1st stage work. Again we took all secondary roads limiting the speed to a constant 55. We did a couple of 15-20 mile runs on the interstates at 65, but the RPM's at that speed are pushing 3200-3300. To much for me and I seem to be enjoying the state roads more and more. The interstates are great if you want to get there fast....but what's the rush. Regards, Bob

Day 4 is a carbon copy of day 3, we made it to Hawley at 7:00 PM after leaving Gettysburg at 10:00 AM. 97 degrees at 3:00PM today, drove SR611 through the water gap (Delaware) and SR447 through the Pocono's. It's amazing to see all of the resorts like Alpine Meadows, Mount Airy Lodge, Buck Hill Falls, and Penn Hills Resort all closed up and vandalized. I remember them all open as a kid and teenager. Tomorrow's short hop should get us home....a beautiful drive through Honesdale PA then around the great Pepacton resevoir to home up SR30. The left rear on the 370 is definitely low by about 1 1/2". I suspect a bad bag, mid-adjusted leveling valve or something else. The shocks are definitely shot. Tag axle brakes aren't even hooked up. When I put new tag axle brakes on the 325 I could never get them to work with the factory black box controller under the dash. I am going to try a regular trailer brake controller on the 325 to see if they will work, I don't see why they wouldn't . Regards, Bob

Bob,

Your assessment of the brakes and the relationship of engine temp and RPMs is exactly what I've experienced. Have any other 370 drivers chimed in on this? Short of repowering with a diesel, do you think a Gear Vendors would help?

Glad you're almost home. I can almost hear the sigh of relief when you pull into the driveway!

Charly

Charly, rear end gear ratio is ideal right now for up to 55 MPH. The C6 transmission is heavy duty but is more prone to overheat failures than a 475 which we have in our 325's. My 370 reads 10 MPH faster than I am going but the RPM's are right on the money. Probably just a gear swap on the end of the speedo cable. The gear vendor option appears to be the way to go especially for the downhill descents. I think may right leg is actually larger now after this trip !

Bob,

I've always felt that my speedo is a bit optimistic, but I like what it's telling me so I'll leave it as is. I hate to think that I'm going even that much slower than every other car and truck on the road.
As for the brakes..... shouldn't they really be called something else if they don't actually stop you??? I think I'll change the rear brake light lenses to amber just so the following traffic doesn't get the impression that my speed is decreasing when they light up.

I think someone has a problem. Maybe there is a 12 step program in order.
