Based on my experiences with 6.5L GM diesels, I'd rather be late with a Cummins than never arrive with a V8.

Sorry Bob, but I'm with John on this, real diesels are never V anything; way too many secondary imbalances.

Ive been driving a 8.2 Litre Detroit for 29 years, daily Snap-On truck, as you all know the first engine lasted 28 years, so put that in your pipe and smoke it ! Some day hopefully well all be on a caravan together and well really see.....Regards, Bob

I know you can dish out as good as you get.

Detroit has made some fine V8 diesels over the years, but many more inline diesels have made the honour roles.

I would take Brad's fuel injected 474 pulling 7000lbs over any plodder pulling the kitchen sink.

Geez, I would even take Bella's little 350 over double the weight!

These are the Cummins number I'm shooting for with modifications.....230 hp and 605 lb-ft torque, maybe even propane injection........in a 8,500 lb vehicle lightened up with Coosa through out and smaller 16" wheels for better acceleration........

I'll be pulling my toad and ready to go for pinks with anyone doing the same.

Bob, for a lot less money than your planned diesel conversion you can buy a Flux Capacitor right now for a lot less money......

My wood guy came through with the new panel assembly for the tank monitor system and onan start panel to replace the original set up. Finished up some more wiring and relocated the kitchen wall outlet lower with a GFI duplex outlet. I am going to get the front driver and passenger windows tinted next week to try and cut down on the sun load. Regards, Bob

Another full day yesterday.....new SeaLevel II tank monitor system installed, all tanks calibrated, pretty cool system, cant figure out how it works, but it works great ! I used the water heater switch on the kitchen monitor panel for the new fresh water fill solenoid for the 100 gallon tank under the bed, only took 10 mins to fill the tank ! Although there were only 4 wires on the remote generator start/stop switch it took me over an hour to get it working....come to find out I cut the start wire when I was getting rid of the extra wire in the overhead console ! LOL...My aluminum guy screwed me and cut the sheet to short, so I decided the new sheet will extend all the way past the kitchen sink.....I think the whole wall will look better done in aluminum than just half. Ill get the new sheet on Monday. Regards, Bob
