Looks like you avoided the big freeze and snow. My friends in Colorado are still waiting for snow to ski.

We did, I don't think it snowed one day. We are in phillipsburg KS right now, stopped to make coffee. On to Washington for the night, site of our recent Classic Motorhome Get Together.

Team,

I have a wire under my dash that is labeled "Car Phone" Is this an antenna line? It is literally just a wire that was cut and labeled with a label maker wrapped around it as a tag. I am asking because I may use it for a 4G signal booster, and if this line is pre-wired I will get the appropriate adapter for my booster's vehicle antenna. Thanks for any knowledge in advance. Also the PO added two antennas to the mirrors for the CB radio, anyone know if there was a pre-wired CB radio roof antenna? Just continuing our upgrades and fine tuning.

Okay after a review of the manuals it is an antenna wire. So I will just need the right adapter and crimp it.

Update, the antenna wire under the dash has continuity between the shielding and the insulated core wire. So that means one of two things. Wither I have a monopole antenna up there, or there is a kink in the wire and it is ruined. I need to get out in some good weather and take the antenna on top apart and check continuity on that end. If I have it between the shielding and the insulated core I will need to figure out how to re-run the wire. That could be challenging. Will let you know what I get into.

With a little luck you might be able to use it as a pull cord for a new coax if you have someone shove it in from the top as you pull the bottom. I believe mine come down the A-pillar and you can get to them by removing the trim.

Also a good chance the short is at the antenna connection. You will probably find a foot or so extra cable when you pull the antenna.

I'll be very very surprised if that works, 4g is a totally different animal than what they were using in the car-phone days. You're better off using it as a pull line like Kota said and using a dedicated 4g antenna

Gentlemen,

It was beautiful weather today, and I had a look at the antenna. It was a monopole antenna, using an NMO connector. When testing the antenna mount the core and shielding was isolated. When testing the antenna, the core and shielding had continuity. So really, I assume it was a monopole because of this.

I ordered a replacement antenna for 4G LTE and 3G with NMO connector. It will be here next week.

I have two indoor antennas and will look at putting them on a switch. One is for when the coach is stationary and centrally located, the other is for driving and is up front. I thought I read somewhere that using an RF switch, like the old cable box switches does not work with 4GLTE and 3G due to interference caused by the switch, but I cannot find anything on it now. Wondering if I am imagining things.

After seeing Bob's solution for winter travel, I am going to start looking at what is necessary to install the heater pads on my coach. The biggest challenge I think will be the shower p-trap.

Most of that plumbing on both of mine is in chases above the insulated floor and are heated by the rear gas furnace. The tubs penetrate into insulated housings for the tanks and the service bay.

Kota,

So you can camp in winter if you install the elbow and trap heaters?

I don’t know if it was an option but my 95 seems to be completely set up for winter camping. Even heat into the water and sewer compartment. We’ve camped in 20 degree temps without issues. Had to ride out one big winter storm in nortern Minnesota for several days. Found out It drives pretty well in winter conditions. Not by choice.

Where does the heat come from for the water compartment? Only place I could imagine is behind the water valves that are mounted on that metal pop-out bracket.

The Weboost NMO antenna arrived today, installed, and all works like a charm! Went from three to five bars 4G LTE! Will see how it does in remote areas over spring break!
