If I went to the dark side, I like the looks of some of the newer stuff in the 30' range with single slide that takes up nearly the whole side.
We saw a good deal of those newer rigs with the single, full length slide out while out in Colorado. They look pretty cool. Didn't get to peak inside one. Made me curious about the floor plans.

They remind me of the inside of a casino.

Ya gotta say it real slow with a southern drawl. "Ah fly a buh fifty 2" Buff for short. Acronym came later but "fella" ain't correct. [emoji6]

Team,

Thanks for the words of encouragement and discouragement. I am still agonizing on the decision. It's the living space with two little ones getting bigger I am thinking of. The most frustrating thing is that I finally worked out all the kinks, and have DD about 90% where I want her with projects and updates. So getting a new one would reset me. As for the decision, I am leaning more towards doing it than not. However I am also leaning towards keeping both... horrible right? Seems very wasteful. What's funny is the only hesitance is meeting all you fine people on this forum, and the wonderful get-togethers we have. My wife said she only wanted to do it if we could keep attending. :-D

Bob,

I am indeed looking at the late 80's early 90's coaches. What should I be looking for regarding the heating? I saw not signs in the under belly compartments or obvious signs in the coach. The only thing I saw was slight superficial corrosion on the vents themselves, but they look like residential vents, and I chalked that up to 20-30 years of age.

Kota,

You're absolutely right, and that is a lot of my decision making consideration too. The increase length and decreased mobility will be a factor for sure. I can do so much with DD that it amazes me, not really much different than driving a crew-cab-full-bed-dually. I have driven two Prevosts thus far, and I have inches from each line. In DD I have a foot on either side. I will also miss the fuel economy of DD. Consistent 12mpg with 15MPG in ideal conditions, and if she drops below 11mpg it's time to start trouble shooting the engine/fuel system.

I was using the officers acronym, not the nomcom's one ..... Didn't want to risk a nasty note from Lily.

An interior that looks like a casino.......now that's something that would make me sleep better.....not!

Cheers
Tony

Nick

I know a guy up here that is the front man for a pretty famous country fiddle band. He had an AS 31' trailer that he used for traveling with the band; sold it and bought a Prevost bus, which he loved, for a while.........then he found it difficult to find spaces to park it in and even more parks and places he couldn't get into. "It took all the fun out of camping" he told me, as other campers wouldn't approach him at all, as they had done with the Airstream.

Pining for the AS he sold, he ended up buying another AS trailer for camping and keeps the Prevost for traveling with the band and staying at the venues.

Just saying:
Tony

PS I found it to be quite cosy with us and the kids in my 310. It did help building a bed over the doghouse though.

I've been wondering when you and your family would outgrow the 360. Maybe you should consider an end of the season deal on a 5th wheel and a diesel pickup.

Folks just can't understand my reasoning when it comes to Motorhome as to TT or 5th wheel. Love that I can pull over, use the bathroom, make lunch, whatever, and never have to get outside of Coach. As well, when I pull in for the day, interior is either heated or cooled (for the most part).

Know I'll never be able to afford a new Airstream Motorhome if they ever choose to build again, but pretty much decided on Newmar if I ever have to replace the beast.

Team,

decided against the Prevost... for now... thanks for the input and thoughts. The big detractor thus far is the amount of work I spend keeping DD up to snuff, and having her almost where I want her, versus doing it all again with a new, bigger, more complicated coach.

In other news my P7100 pump slipped out of time, and I recently retimed it with the engine. Symptoms were decreased fuel economy as low as 9.0mpg from 11.5-12.5mpg, hard starts taking as long as 30 seconds, sluggish performance, lugging at shift points, and increased observed EGTs by about 200 degrees. During troubleshooting I checked for air in the fuel lines first, then I placed the timing pins while at TDC, and found they did not align. Verified TDC, loosened and retorqued the P7100 pump gear with pins in place. During test drive it was like she came alive. Will let you know how the new MPG works out.

Glad you came to that decision.... I to, had the Prevost bug for about 2 years, only found I with a dinette in it and all the others had the "casino" effect when you went inside....,,that is the best description I have ever heard. They are truly nice to look at, but a real pain in the ass to work on. Regards, Bob

Do you think that could have lead to the head gasket failures you were having last year?

Did the "experts" check the pump when they worked on the head.

Dave, I don't know, but she didn't start losing fuel economy until outside the warranty period. Am now very skeptical of cummins power shops.

Hard to find good help when it comes to mechanical injection. If you can't plug a computer into it, they seem to be lost.

Found the answer to the storage compartment actuator. It is a Vauchette actuator. It is used in Peugeot 205 GTI as the 'boot' lock actuator, or trunk as we like to refer to it. They are in high demand, as they have stopped making them. There is also another supplier named valeo. The price for the actuator fluctuates between $50-$90 I was able to find one off of Ebay. I also ordered a generic two wire one off of amazon for $5 to see if I can find a solution using current readily available off-the-shelf technology. Will let you know.

WOW! A Peugeot part in an Airstream; years after Peugeot pulled out of North America? What are the chances?

What would possess AS to purchase these at the time? Old stock for cheap?

Cheers
